Thanks @Koen Kwisthout for reminding me HOLY GUACAMOLE!! I cannot believe that we have 300 super cool language learners in this community I LOVE this community and I what WE created It's a place that is constantly growing, evolving and getting better I am planning to: - Add Language resource chests in the classroom soon for every knight (lvl 4) - Create 2 posts daily - 1 Value and 1 fun :) - Keep on hosting super valuable group calls every Tuesday - Launch the language leagues when we hit 444 members - Launch big giveaways when we hit 555 members - and launch IRL language meetups when we hit 1111 members - to get the star (We deserve it) - A better way to track accountability companions and a simple way every members can show up to the community and learn something (Thanks @Anouchka Hanneman for the idea) ALSO CONGRATS @Ruth aka Grace Rose you are our first Wizard!! (lvl 7) WOW!!!! But of course without all of you all, none of these ideas would come alive So I would love if anyone has any more ideas to share Also LETS GOOOO!!!! ps: I will be changing the about page a bit and some stuff up to attract more serious learners in our community :)

@Lisa May is the Founder of EmpowerEd! Super cool! She is learning Spanish!! YAYY!!! Glad to have you here Lisa :) Make a post introducing yourself @Eb H is always glad for the opportunity to learn and increase wisdom, which is wonderful!!! Glad to have you here man! Introduce yourself to the community with a post :) @Gabriel Lafond is from Quebec and he is wanting to learn English! Wonderful man!! There are lots of other cool language learners here that are also trying to acquire English. Introduce yourself! @Eugene Globe III is just some dude learning Spanish 😁 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞: The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires. — William Arthur Ward I honestly think this is a VERY powerful quote especially for teachers and for students finding the right teachers. 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞: The most important thing when learning a language in the beginning is Exposure and immersion BUT if you don't have a notebook or a doc in which you can write that word or sentence down then it will leave ALSO there was a study done where they looked at memory and language acquisition and found out that languages learned without context get forgotten after hours SO learn words in phrases with context :) Exposure is HUGE! Immerse yourself in the language as much as possible and then connect that to a notebook and some form of instant output Wishing you all the best 🙌🏻❤️ Please share your takeaways and some little thoughts that you have.

Welcome everybody! (And what a great quote btw! Saving that one!)
Important language leagues update 😢
I have been thinking alot about the language leagues and a thought came to me that we have too little people in our community that are serious about learning their target language.. Its just that we need 20 language learners here that are serious and honestly I don’t think we have so many lol A lot of people already learned their desired language Or people don’t have it on the top of their priority to even put 5-10 minutes to it On the last Poll we only had 3 votes for Latin languages, 2 votes for asian….. We need 5 from each leagues minimum to make it fun and interesting…. So I made a decision of launching it when we have 444 members Then I will make a post about the launch and see if we have the 20 people that are willing to be part of it and win some super cool prizes For now we have accountability companions, the 5 day language learning Quest, The weekly group call, and the language learning strategies in the classroom classroom I would love to hear your thoughts on this :) Wishing you all the best Lot's more value coming very very soon 🙌🏻❤️

I'm glad others have mentioned it already: life is busy and asks a lot of us. Learning a new language is more a hobby or side quest and not a priority, unless you're dealing with it for your work, planning a holiday or move. The time investment of 30 minutes a day, is just too much. That's why people play DuoLingo.. it's just 2-5 min a day. That's easily doable in a toilet or lunch break, walking to or from your car, while cooking, doing in an elevator, during a commercial break etc. etc. I feel like you might take it a bit too personal in the sense that you might think you're doing something "wrong" by not having the results you want to have/miss the enthusiasm reflected back, that you feel. And I think that's understandable yet not what's going on. I think we're all wanting to learn just overwhelmed 😊 My suggestion would be to seek things that are low effort/small. Another group I'm in, has people write "I take full responsibility for everything in my life" for 90 days. There are people who open their own topics and bulk topics. It generates interaction between members and "noise" in the community. Perhaps you could find something similar that works for you. Like when you post and share a cool quote or sentence or ask a question and have us reply in one of our desired languages or something. Or perhaps the same sort of accountability idea as mentioned above but tailored to language learning. Like every day a different sentence. Or the same. Like what you've eaten for breakfast or how your day was. Whatever. Something where the challenge lies in the repetition or looking up what cereal sounds in your preferred language. Things that cost you 1 minute but keep you engaged, if you get what I mean 😊 sort of sneaky learning haha. It might get people to engage with each other as well. Just a thought.

@Rose Macabre oh good haha! That hopefully will lessen the culture shock. Somewhat 😅 If you're introverted, you'll probably find the South (Limburg), North (Friesland and Groningen) and East ("de Achterhoek") more comfortable that West or Mid Provence's. "The Randstad" (which includes Amsterdam and the big cities, airport, capital, big marine haven) are more cultural diverse and thus busy, fast, younger minded, extravert and blunt. If you like chill, politeness and space more, + are a fan of nature instead of the concrete jungle: try to visit the Provence's mentioned above (or also, balance and all). They all have their charm though (I've moved around a lot). Anyways, happy learning! Oh what came to mind was also the YT Videos of Bart de Pau. He's a language teacher and makes funny videos of foreigners who get acquainted with Dutch culture. So people from all over the world share what's normal in their country/culture. Sometimes he gives them an object or a riddle and let them solve it (in Dutch, according to their speaking level). I found it to be very amusing as well). Aaaaannyway. Should you need/want help learning Dutch, or want to know something, tag me 😊

@Rose Macabre my pleasure 😊 and no worries. Pronounciation is difficult. I've been told Dutch is a hard language to learn, but the more you try the better you become. Just talk Dutch, even if we talk back in English :p that's how you learn the fastest ;) Also, my English pronunciation sucks and my English vocabulary is limited, so no worries. We can suck at pronounciation together 😂😂 takes the pressure off ;) Best of luck with the move! So exciting!
