What I Learned About Social Media So Far...
I am currently in the biggest content push of my life. 100 hours of content production and learning is the challenge. I've logged over 60 hours in the last 14 days. I'm either: editing, posting and distributing, writing or recording. During down time I study social media business experts and trends. Here's what I've learned so far: #1A. It is easier to go viral now more than ever in history. Yes it's true. Why? - The ai 'algos' are extremely sophisticated at deeply knowing and feeding users EXACTLY what they want to 'consume' (this includes you!) - The algo really, really, really cares about engagement (views, clicks, watch time, shares, comments)... - The algo will ONLY promote content that users like (engage with) #1B. New accounts are being promoted. Social media is now 'democratized'. YES it's true. - Have you noticed how many brand new, tiny accounts you get fed? I do - if you have a new account but make engaging content, the algo will promote you and you can potentially go 'mega viral'. Google the grape juice skateboarder guy. #2. The platforms don't care about you. They care about themselves. SM companies are gigantic business that make money from engaged users... - Does your content support their company's goals? - What does your content do to keep users engaged? - In short, stop using social media like your personal diary. In 2025 social media is a business and should be treated like one. #3. I can finally read and understand basic metrics. Yes, views matter. Follows matter, but there is more nuance than that. #4. Shadow-ban is real. It's a combination of this thing called a "trust score" and the quality (engagement) of your content. If your content sucks or is deemed low trust (that's YOU figure realist people!! ๐) you are basically f@*$ked. - Good news is, you can recover, but the cycle for 'regaining trust' is 90 days of consistent quality posts (see above!) In Summary, to 'get more views and followers' in 2025.... QUALITY IS KING!!!!
