What Do You Want? (Serious Question)
When I first envisioned this Academy and Skool, I thought: "Wow! Art students will love this community thing!" Well, after 6 weeks and many interviews, DMs and comments I've come to the painful realization that I was wrong. What I believe online art students want is mostly these 2 things: 1. Self paced knowledge: info, courses, classes, videos, tutorials 2. Access: advice, crits from their favorite artist they admire and trust. Am I wrong? I ask this because this Academy as it was founded is not sustainable economically. It has to change or be shut down. I have literally burned 100s of hours of labor and 100s of dollars of my own money only to get 0% conversion on the About page! I even offered people for FREE and they still reject me. We have free members now that don't even use the Academy. Wow. This hurts but this is my reality. ๐Ÿ’กSo my conclusions are: 1. What I'm offering here is not very valuable, even to people who know me. 2. My core offer sucks and therefore the About page will always suck. 3. My reach and visibility sucks because I am in some kind of SM jail (my vids and posts are not pushed anymore according to metric data). 4. Skool the platform is so new to 'online art students' that it is a huge barrier to cross. So, now is your chance to tell me what you want. I have some ideas which are in the poll below. But who cares what I think. I want to know what you want and care about. Thanks for reading and thank you for your feedback. Please be honest and "real". You will not hurt my feelings at all. I appreciate honest and straight talk. The more honest feedback I get, the more I can help you. ๐Ÿ™

What I Learned About Social Media So Far...
I am currently in the biggest content push of my life. 100 hours of content production and learning is the challenge. I've logged over 60 hours in the last 14 days. I'm either: editing, posting and distributing, writing or recording. During down time I study social media business experts and trends. Here's what I've learned so far: #1A. It is easier to go viral now more than ever in history. Yes it's true. Why? - The ai 'algos' are extremely sophisticated at deeply knowing and feeding users EXACTLY what they want to 'consume' (this includes you!) - The algo really, really, really cares about engagement (views, clicks, watch time, shares, comments)... - The algo will ONLY promote content that users like (engage with) #1B. New accounts are being promoted. Social media is now 'democratized'. YES it's true. - Have you noticed how many brand new, tiny accounts you get fed? I do - if you have a new account but make engaging content, the algo will promote you and you can potentially go 'mega viral'. Google the grape juice skateboarder guy. #2. The platforms don't care about you. They care about themselves. SM companies are gigantic business that make money from engaged users... - Does your content support their company's goals? - What does your content do to keep users engaged? - In short, stop using social media like your personal diary. In 2025 social media is a business and should be treated like one. #3. I can finally read and understand basic metrics. Yes, views matter. Follows matter, but there is more nuance than that. #4. Shadow-ban is real. It's a combination of this thing called a "trust score" and the quality (engagement) of your content. If your content sucks or is deemed low trust (that's YOU figure realist people!! ๐Ÿ˜‚) you are basically f@*$ked. - Good news is, you can recover, but the cycle for 'regaining trust' is 90 days of consistent quality posts (see above!) In Summary, to 'get more views and followers' in 2025.... QUALITY IS KING!!!!

I think the number one challenge I struggle with is balancing between creating, drawing, painting, and consistently making content for social media. In my case, Iโ€™m a slow artist๐Ÿ˜‚I care more about what I draw than just producing content for social media. Most of my artworks take a lot of time and effort to finish, and I find it hard to focus on too many things at once, so my social media ends up with less content. I tried posting quicker drawings just to keep the engagement going, but eventually, I gave up because I didnโ€™t feel satisfied with the quality of my work. So itโ€™s always a challenge to stay active on social media. Also, I find Instagramโ€™s algorithm to be the worst compared to other platforms. I post the same content on both Instagram and TikTok, but I get way more engagement on TikTok. So yeah, I guess the platform you choose really does make a difference๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

That was fun. I need a break from muscle men for now. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜‚ will start some more finished work next. The tone is graphite powder wiped with tissue. I have this recorded on video if your interested ๐ŸŽฅ @Felix Schreiter @Corey Jones Iโ€™m finally able to control graphite powder with tissue. Got some cool effects here. What do you think?
