Question...
Harleigh - thank you for the warm welcome. I do have a question. I am trying to figure out if I really need a Shopify, Wix or Woo?? platform to sell my books. I have Ingram & Amazon and will be printing through Bookvault as well. Can you give me any direction?

If you’re already using Amazon and Ingram, you don’t need Shopify/Wix/Woo, those are more for building your own direct storefront and brand control. It really depends on whether you want to sell independently or stick with marketplaces for now. Are you hoping to build your own audience site, or mainly streamline distribution?
What’s your biggest struggle?
I’m curious, what would you say has been your biggest struggle when it comes to children children’s book publishing? And have you overcome it yet? I know all of our strengths and weaknesses are different, so I’m curious to see what your response will be 👀

@April Hicks That makes a lot of sense, creating is the fun part, but getting visibility is a whole different skill set. It sounds like you’re learning and adjusting, which is huge. What’s one strategy you’ve tried so far that showed even a small win?

@Julia Washington Glad it helped! Marketing is a learning curve for all of us. What part are you focusing on improving right now reviews, visibility, or social media?
Hi
Hi! I’m Pete, based in Canada . I recently published a children’s picture book called What Is Tết? Tết Là Gì?, a bilingual story celebrating Lunar New Year.

That’s wonderful, congrats on the launch! 🎉 A bilingual children’s book celebrating Tết is such a meaningful way to share culture and spark curiosity in kids. What inspired you to tell this story?
Amazon's a joke!
I've published 44 children's illustrated books on Amazon, have a website, socials... all to no avail. I mean, everything is against you on Amazon: Self published books are too expensive, profit margin dismal, to get in the top 10 of a niche is a catch 22... About to go with digital narrated downloads on Fourthwall with Genially puzzles and quiz add on. The return is higher, the cost to the consumer a quarter of a book price. A win-win? I hope.

@Paul Easther Love the strategy! Sounds tricky but fun. How are you deciding what type of entertainment works best for the promos?

@Paul Easther That’s actually really clever, using the story itself as the hook and letting curiosity do the selling. The question-first approach should spark comments too 👍 Have you tested which questions stop the scroll best yet, or will that come after launch?
Happy to have found you.
I am a NEWBIE here and am looking forward to learning as much as I can to help with my newly launched children's book. ABRA*CA*DABRA was written over 14 years ago and has been launched earlier this month. There seems so much to do and it sounds like you have simplified things Harleigh. I am looking forward to connecting with you and the group.
Happy to have found you.

Welcome! I’m new here too 😊 Congrats on launching ABRA*CA*DABRA! Looking forward to learning together and connecting with everyone. What’s been the most exciting or challenging part so far?

@Terry Bean Totally get that, it can be overwhelming! How do you decide which marketing “tentacles” to focus on first?
