ABB rack with transformer wanted!
Hi, our cooperation partner Hilker Solar from Germany is looking for a new or used ABB rack with transformer. For example, an ABB PVI-55, PVI-110, PVI-165, or PVI-220... the device can also be damaged (except for the transformer, which is needed). Plug-in units are not needed. Does anyone have any ideas or a device?

Expert View: Arc Flash Risk and Safe Isc Testing
Today, I witnessed an arc flash while a worker was attempting to measure the Isc of a PV string using a DMM. It was a horrific sight seeing. I would like to know, from an expert's perspective, what the safe procedure is for measuring the Isc on a PV string with a rated voltage of 1,369.42 VDC.

Hello Warda. Well first thing is first, everyone that touches a cable has to wear proper PPE. Second, all switches off of the dc side ( make sure you ramp the inverters down or shut them down safely) Third, every string is measured with an amp clamp before handling. Forth, make sure the technicians know what they re doing. I’ve “designed” a safety disconnect switch for a large EPC some years ago. 1500Vdc strings and almost no measurement devices available on the market. So I came up with the following solution to handle the initial ark. The guys on site moved it and it was used and abused for months before a proper 40A 1500V isc measuring tool was selected

question
What is the most frustrating thing about being in solar industry?

> Mr. Andreeas's perspective on many of the issues discussed here. His observations are spot-on. For me, it’s the disconnect between design and real-world execution. Too often, engineers and system designers jump into planning without spending enough time in Operations & Maintenance (O&M). Without 3–5 years of field experience, it’s hard to understand how small mistakes during installation can turn into big problems later. You need to see the long-term impact of poor decisions to design better systems. There’s also a lack of flexibility in on-site implementation. Rarely does the initial design match the realities in the field. Workarounds and on-the-spot solutions are often necessary. But for those to be effective, you need capable on-site technicians or teams who can clearly communicate those changes back up the chain—so documentation and engineering teams stay aligned. Another challenge is the lack of communication between stakeholders during the build phase. Something as simple as a 3–4 meter conductor tap could solve harmonization issues, but it gets overlooked because people aren’t aligned. Some companies even focus more on avoiding traceable fault documentation than on solving the actual problem. That mindset slows progress. Mistakes happen — we’re human. But when the priority becomes finding someone to blame instead of fixing the issue, it creates a toxic environment. If you’re just starting out in this field, steer clear of places like that. Also worth mentioning: senior engineers who don’t stay up to date with new tech and implementation methods. And then there’s budget-driven decision-making. It’s understandable—budgets are real. But when cost-cutting affects critical system elements, it often leads to long-term complications. Lower-quality components tend to bring extra challenges and rarely live up to their performance claims. What looks like savings upfront can turn into reliability issues, maintenance headaches, and missed performance targets down the line.

@Călin Sas looking forward to it !

@Călin Sas As you can guess, I am a seriouss Fronius Fan. Especially the larger CL multi cluster ones. When it comes to durability it would be hard to match. The examples ive seen... Also, maintanance friendly. And again, what @Andreas Iliou mentions: Residential and comercial : Yes MW plants: ... Not designed for it. For troubleshooting codes, use: Solar.sos It's the fronius error code app, also include possible fixes per error. Noice!
