When clean writing starts looking suspicious
Jason’s recent Medium piece about being accused of using AI struck a nerve for me. In my last company, I ran into repeated issues because my writing was assumed to be machine-generated because it was clear and consistent. At some point, the conversation stopped being about meaning and turned into suspicion about process. What feels strange is how quickly assumptions form. Careful wording can now work against you, and speed can raise questions. That puts people in an odd position when experience tends to show up as clarity. I am curious how others are handling this shift. If you write or communicate for work, how do you think about trust right now?

That makes sense, and I agree with your distinction. In my case, I work mostly with clinical and life-science content, where accuracy and compliance matter as much as voice. There are rules, references, and constraints that simply have to be checked carefully every time. I am not a clinician, but an experienced writer, and using AI as a support for research, cross-checking, and consistency helps me do that work responsibly. The final judgment and wording are still mine. In regulated writing, not using tools at all would make it much harder to stay precise.

@Frank Jones I agree. In my work authenticity still comes from judgment and responsibility, even when tools are involved. I imagine it is similar in music, where tools can support the process but cannot replace the voice behind it.
Glad to be here
I am 52, and like many of you, I’m in the middle of a career reset. I spent a long time in web development and writing, and more recently moved into health and clinical content, which taught me to slow down and be careful with words. There is experience behind me, but I need to rethink how I work and what I build next. I joined this group because I didn’t want to do that alone. I am glad to be here, and I am happy to share what I know about writing or communication!

MEDIUM Paywall-ing
@Jason Weiland Hey everyone - Quick question: If you are on MEDIUM, do you paywall your stories?

@Johan Lysne IV I relate to that. Writing has helped me organize thinking more than anything else. The echo chamber feeling is real, especially at this stage. Glad this space exists.
