Persistence Pays, Purpose Reigns
Did you watch the Academy Awards...or at least catch some updates online? Michael B. Jordan just reminded the world what happens when a dream refuses to die. From his early days on television in The Wire and Friday Night Lights, to commanding the global stage in Black Panther, Creed, and Fruitvale Station, his journey has been anything but ordinary. Each role, each performance, each step forward built the man we now celebrate as an Academy Award winner for Best Actor. But let’s not sanitize the journey. Just weeks before this moment, he was reportedly in Europe and subjected to a racist slur. Let that sit with you. At the very moment he is rising to the highest level of his craft, he is still forced to confront the lowest expressions of ignorance. And yet… he kept moving. This is what I wrote in Welcome to Greatness: In the pursuit of greatness, if you encounter no opposition, you are heading in the wrong direction. Opposition is not a signal to retreat. It is confirmation that you are advancing. Because greatness will test you. It will stretch you. It will expose you. Even scripture reminds us that the road is narrow, and few will find it. Not because it is hidden, but because it is hard. Many will admire the outcome, but few will endure the process. So, today, as we celebrate this Oscar win, let's understand what we are really honouring. Not just talent. Not just performance. We are celebrating resilience. We are celebrating the refusal to bow to racism, to oppression, to rejection, to every unnecessary barrier placed in the path of those who dare to rise. We are celebrating everyone who keeps going when it would be easier to quit. If you are serious about your dream, then ask yourself: Are you willing to face the resistance that comes with it? Are you prepared to walk the narrow road? If the answer is yes, then it is time to equip yourself. It is time to step into the discipline required to conquer your challenges and build your greatness. NOW, share your thoughts as well.

Coping with Racism-Induced Trauma
Ok people, I hope you are all doing well. I’m asking this with intention. And with care. QUESTIONS FOR THOSE COMFORTABLE SHARING How did you receive the racist image of the Obamas that was posted by that individual? What did it stir in you—emotionally, mentally, physically? Because for many, this was not “just an image.” It landed as trauma. It reopened fear. It reminded people—especially Black people—that no amount of excellence, dignity, brilliance, or service inoculates you from hatred. WHAT MAKES THIS WORSE I understand he has since made a video taking responsibility, while simultaneously insisting he has nothing to apologize for. That matters. Because responsibility without remorse is not accountability. Ownership without empathy is not growth. Free speech without conscience becomes violence—slow, corrosive violence. WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE US? Not just Black people. Everyone with a living conscience. Because when racism is dismissed, rationalized, or laughed off, it doesn’t only wound its immediate targets. It deforms the moral spine of a society. Let’s be honest: Some consciences are not merely asleep. They are deadened. Repeated exposure without consequence does that. FOR THOSE FEELING SHAKEN Your reaction is valid. Your anger is valid. Your exhaustion is valid. You are not “too sensitive.” You are responding appropriately to dehumanization. Silence doesn’t keep the peace. It keeps the wound open. So I’m asking again—because this matters: How did you take it? And what do you think we owe one another in moments like this—if we claim to be human, if we claim to have conscience? I’m listening.

HAPPY FRIDAY. PROTECT YOUR MIND. RESET YOUR SOUL.
Today, I ask that you kindly permit yourself. Permission to slow down. Permission to breathe. Permission to protect your mind from the constant toxicity we’re swimming in—on social media, on the news, everywhere. Yes, I know. Everyone is carrying something. Some are carrying a lot more than they let on. But today—today is different. Today, even at work, take it easy. Today, on your way home, sing that song you love. Today, if you’re working from home, relax your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and exhale. Let today be a mental health recharging day. The weekend doesn’t start tomorrow. It starts now. This is exactly what I’ve been doing myself—resetting my head after some of the hardest work seasons. Because you can’t pour from an empty cup. And you can’t think clearly when your mind is under constant attack. And while you’re resetting, here’s something meaningful I want to share. We’ve officially launched a new online learning platform, and the first 1,000 people get in FREE. After that, it becomes paid. Thank you—truly—to those who have already joined us from all over the world and started taking the free courses. If you’re already inside, do this today: Visit the platform at https://www.skool.com/schoolofgreatness Take one or two courses. And if it’s not for you, you have the option to exit. Simple. Honest. Respectful. But here’s what’s inside: Over 500 courses. More than 300 speakers. Covering leadership development, executive and strategic management, change management, and deeply personal growth topics like decision-making, discovering purpose, generating passion, and monetizing your gift. And yes—courses on social justice too. Black history. Anti-racism. Truth, awareness, and transformation. On top of that, every first Saturday of the month, we’ll host a FREE live group coaching session. I’ll be there. Some of my coaches will be there. We’ll talk, reflect, answer questions, and grow together. The value of this?
HAPPY FRIDAY. PROTECT YOUR MIND. RESET YOUR SOUL.

@Ehizogie Obaze yes, this is a very common issue, especially if you are the personal development type, which many are not. This is where you learn about tact & diplomacy. I had to learn this....the ability to still communicate effectively with those who have NOT grown in years. They have aged BUT not grown a bit!!

@Ehizogie Obaze here is a framework to use: - Lead with questions, not statements. Stop telling them what they will oppose. Instead, ask tactical questions that guide them toward the conclusion you want. For example: “What are some strategies we could use to make this organization more effective?” They’ll suggest ideas, and you can now include your perspective. - Inject your insights subtly. After they respond, add your opinions as complements, not corrections. Frame your ideas as enhancements to theirs, not challenges. - Gradually secure buy-in. Ask collaborative, action-oriented questions like: “Who can we bring in to elevate our impact?” or “Should we create a plan to implement this?” They will naturally say yes. - Engage key influencers individually. Humble yourself and seek their advice privately. Incorporate their input visibly in proposals or communications, so they see their contribution reflected. - Amplify their voice publicly. When presenting the proposal or plan, highlight their input. People will support what they feel they helped create. - Use humility as leverage. Asking for advice and showing openness lowers defensiveness while subtly steering outcomes. This way, your progressive ideas are communicated through their own voices, making them more likely to embrace and champion them.
