🔴 THE TRUTH ABOUT PROSTATE CANCER AND SEX — WHAT NOBODY TELLS YOU (This is the conversation most doctors skip. I am not going to skip it.) Right. I am going to talk about something today that most men — and most health coaches — avoid completely. Not because it is not important. But because it is uncomfortable. Because we have been conditioned to keep certain things private. Because admitting that something has affected us in this area feels like admitting weakness. I am done with that. Because the silence around prostate cancer and sexual health is one of the most damaging things in men’s health. Men do not get the information they need before treatment. They are not prepared for what happens after. And they suffer alone — in silence — when they do not have to. I know this because I lived it. And today I am going to tell you the truth. All of it. 👇 🤐 FIRST — LET’S TALK ABOUT WHY NOBODY TALKS ABOUT THIS Here is the irony. The prostate gland — the very gland at the centre of all of this — plays a direct role in male sexual function. It produces the fluid that makes up the majority of semen. It is located directly in front of the rectum, wrapped around the urethra, and sits just below the bladder. It is anatomically inseparable from the systems that govern sexual function in men. And yet when most men get a prostate cancer diagnosis, the conversation about what treatment might mean for their sex life is rushed, minimised, or skipped entirely. I sat in that chair. I heard the diagnosis. And in the weeks that followed — during all the conversations about treatment options, procedures, side effects, and recovery plans — the impact on my sexual health was mentioned almost in passing. Almost as an afterthought. It was not an afterthought. It changed my life. And I want you to be prepared in a way that I was not. ⚕️ LET’S START WITH THE BASICS — WHAT DOES THE PROSTATE ACTUALLY DO? The prostate gland is a walnut-sized gland that sits just below the bladder in men. Its primary functions are:

Thank you Darryl for this incredibly insightful article. This kind of information is just not available. I know - because I have tried to find it. Men of our generation were influenced by the British Empire - generations of men were told - big boys don't cry, keep a stiff upper lip and do not talk to anyone about your personal life. That is fine and served our fathers well, but everyone is living longer now and the issues that affect men today are different (not the correct word, because the issues are the same, but men did not live this long in the past, nor were we able to pinpoint what the exact issues were). Conversation is needed, awareness is critical to better understanding. Thank you again for this article. I will be pointing many people to it.
What a difference you can make
It is a Monday morning. You have just made a decision. You are done putting it off. Done telling yourself you will start next week. Done ignoring the fact that your father had prostate cancer, or that your PSA came back slightly elevated, or that you have not felt like yourself in months. You are starting today. But here is the question nobody answers — what actually happens next? Not in theory. Not in a brochure. But in your actual body, week by week, over the next twelve weeks. Because here is what I have learned — both from my own experience after diagnosis and from working with men through my programme — the changes that happen when you commit to your health are faster, more dramatic, and more wide-ranging than most men ever expect. And knowing what is coming makes it infinitely easier to keep going. So let me walk you through it. 👇 📅 WEEKS 1 & 2 — THE UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTH ABOUT STARTING I am not going to lie to you. The first two weeks are the hardest. Not because the changes are difficult. But because your body has been running on a certain set of habits — probably for years — and it does not immediately celebrate the fact that you have switched things up. Here is what is actually happening inside you during weeks one and two: Your gut microbiome is beginning to shift. When you start eating more vegetables, more fibre, less processed food, the bacteria in your gut start to change. This is genuinely good. But in the short term it can cause bloating, changes in digestion, and a general feeling of your body adjusting. This is normal. Push through it. Your blood sugar is beginning to stabilise. If you have cut back on refined sugar and processed carbohydrates, your insulin levels are starting to even out. You may feel tired. You may have headaches. You may crave the foods you have reduced. This is your body recalibrating. It passes. Your sleep is starting to change. If you have introduced a wind-down routine and cut back on alcohol, your sleep architecture is already improving — even if you do not feel it yet. The deep sleep and REM cycles your body desperately needs are beginning to lengthen.

Very comprehensive post, Darryl. Everything is clearly spelled out. I recognize some of the changes you talk about in this article. For me - A year ago I was 23kg heavier, and eating all the wrong foods. I was keeping up with anti-inflammatories, and beginning to eat prostate healthy foods, but I was also relying on prostate supplements. In September, my A1C was too high, so I changed my diet to reduce weight and eliminate sugars. I recognize many of the signs you talk about in the Weeks detailed above. Earlier this year, I was already down 20+kg and the main thing I noticed is that my knee which I always had a problem with was much better, so much so that I stopped wearing the knee support bandage when exercising. This year is a whole different experience for me. I will need a new hole in my belt soon, it has been almost 20 years that I have had this belt.....I really never thought it was possible.
Did you know this
Then I noticed blood in my stool twice in one week. I got it checked. And I sat down in a doctor’s chair and heard words that stopped my world. Everything I am about to share — I wish someone had told me before that appointment. Read this. Save it. And send it to every man over 40 in your life. Let’s go. 👇 1️ PROSTATE CANCER IS THE MOST COMMON CANCER IN MEN Not one of the most common. THE most common. In the UK, around 52,000 men are diagnosed every year. That is one diagnosis every ten minutes. In the US, it is over 300,000 new cases annually — making it the second leading cause of cancer death in American men. And yet most men could not tell you where their prostate is, what it does, or what the warning signs are. That ends today. 2️⃣ IT OFTEN HAS NO SYMPTOMS IN THE EARLY STAGES This is the one that catches men completely off guard. Most early prostate cancer is completely silent. No pain. No urinary problems. No warning signs of any kind. You can have prostate cancer right now and feel completely fine. I felt fine. I had one symptom — blood in my stool — that I almost dismissed. But that was it. This is why waiting for symptoms before getting tested is one of the most dangerous things a man can do. By the time symptoms appear, the cancer may be at a much more advanced stage. Do not wait to feel ill. Get tested. 3️⃣ WHEN CAUGHT EARLY THE SURVIVAL RATE IS OVER 98% Here is the good news — and it is genuinely good news. Prostate cancer caught at Stage 1 or Stage 2 has a ten-year survival rate of over 98%. That is not a typo. Nearly every man diagnosed early survives it. The survival rate drops significantly at later stages. Early detection is not just helpful. It is the difference between a manageable diagnosis and a devastating one. This single fact is why PSA testing and regular screening saves lives — and why I talk about it every single week. 4️⃣ THE PSA TEST IS SIMPLE AND COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE A PSA test is a basic blood test that measures the level of Prostate-Specific Antigen in your blood. It takes minutes. It is widely available. And it is one of the most powerful early detection tools we have.

Another great post. You are doing great work raising awareness. It is so good to see. I can honestly say that when I started I did not know I had a prostate, let along where it was. It was only after years of research that I learned its secrets. Every man needs to read this post and really understand it. So many men feel they are fine and they have nothing to worry about. I wrote a post today about a 68 year old man in the UK who died on June the 11th. In his own words he "fell through the gaps in the system" He was getting yearly checkups or at most every 2 years with his work. But they never checked his PSA levels and he thought because of the regular checks - that he was fine. He found out a year ago that he had stage 4 prostate cancer and is now dead a year later. He did not know he needed to ask about his PSA. It is long past time when men just talked to each other about the prostate.
Let’s kill stress and stop cancer
I want to ask you something before we get into this. When was the last time you genuinely switched off? Not scrolled your phone until your eyes closed. Not sat in front of the TV thinking about work. Not “relaxed” while your mind was running through tomorrow’s problems at a hundred miles an hour. I mean actually. Switched. Off. If you are struggling to remember — this post is for you. Because what I am about to share with you is something that changed the way I think about my health entirely. And I genuinely believe it is one of the most overlooked conversations in men’s health today. We talk about diet. We talk about exercise. We talk about PSA testing. But nobody is talking about what chronic stress is quietly doing to your prostate. Until now. 👇 😤 FIRST — LET’S TALK ABOUT WHAT STRESS ACTUALLY DOES TO YOUR BODY Most men think stress is just a feeling. A bit of pressure. Part of life. Man up and get on with it. That is one of the most dangerous things we have ever been told. Because stress is not just a feeling. Stress is a full-body biological event. And when it becomes chronic — meaning it never fully switches off — the damage it does is real, measurable, and cumulative. Here is what happens inside your body when you are under chronic stress: Your brain sends a signal. Your adrenal glands flood your system with cortisol — the primary stress hormone. In short bursts, cortisol is your friend. It sharpens your focus, increases your energy, and prepares you to deal with a threat. But when cortisol is elevated day after day, week after week, month after month? That is where it gets serious. 👇 ⚠️ THE CORTISOL-PROSTATE CONNECTION — THIS IS WHERE IT GETS REAL Chronically elevated cortisol does five things that directly impact your prostate health: 1. It suppresses your immune system Your immune system is your body’s primary defence against abnormal cells — including the ones that become cancer. When cortisol is chronically high, immune function is suppressed. Your body becomes less capable of identifying and destroying the cells it should be catching.

Wow - Great post. I have read through twice. so much information. Thank you. I always thought my stress level was low. Everyone in my family (except mum) suffered from migranes when I was growing up and my mother said dad suffered due to stress. So I told myself I would not stress over things. This seemed to work very well, or so I thought, until recently when I did one of Craig Burtons checks on my fasting blood sugar. The level was higher than it should have been and he said it may be because of cortisol. So I need to check into it, I might not be as laid back as I think I am. Normally I sleep well at least 7 hours a night and often 8, and I take many things to lower inflammation, green tea every day, turmeric regularly etc. So I think I am doing ok, but I have learned things from your post today.
5 Foods your Prostate Needs
Right. I am going to say something that might surprise you. The most powerful thing you can do for your prostate health this week does not involve a doctor’s appointment, a blood test, or an expensive supplement. It involves your kitchen. I know, I know. You have heard it before. Eat better. Be healthier. Blah blah blah. But stay with me — because what I am about to share is not generic wellness advice. This is the specific science behind why certain foods actively protect the prostate gland, reduce inflammation, and in some cases have been shown to slow the growth of prostate cancer cells. I did not know any of this before my diagnosis in 2017. I wish I had. Let’s go. 👇 🍅 NUMBER ONE — COOKED TOMATOES The prostate’s best friend and the most underrated food in men’s health Tomatoes contain a compound called lycopene — one of the most studied antioxidants in prostate cancer research. Studies have shown that men who regularly consume high amounts of lycopene have up to a 35% lower risk of developing prostate cancer. Here is the thing most people do not know — cooking tomatoes actually increases the lycopene content. Raw tomatoes are good. Tomato sauce, passata, tinned tomatoes, tomato soup — even better. The heat breaks down the cell walls and makes the lycopene far more bioavailable. What does that mean in practice? ✅ Tomato sauce on pasta — counts ✅ Passata in a curry — counts ✅ Tinned tomatoes in a stew — counts ✅ Tomato soup from a tin — counts Aim for three to five servings of cooked tomatoes per week. It is one of the easiest and cheapest things you can do for your prostate health starting today. Keywords to remember: lycopene, prostate cancer prevention, antioxidants, prostate-protective nutrition, tomatoes and prostate health 🥦 NUMBER TWO — BROCCOLI AND CRUCIFEROUS VEGETABLES The cancer-suppressing vegetable your mother was right about Broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale — the vegetables that most men pushed to the side of their plate as children are some of the most powerful anti-cancer foods on the planet.
