The secret to getting what you really want
The year was 1990. In Tokyo, Japan… Boxer Mike Tyson was the undefeated, undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. He was incredible. Invincible. Considered unbeatable. And his opponent? Buster Douglas. A 42 to 1 underdog. That’s long odds. And rightly so… Because Buster Douglas was a bum. He was a nobody with no chance of winning. Just some punching bag and a payday for Tyson before he took on the next real contender. *ding ding* Round 1 and Tyson comes out with fists of fury blazing. As expected… Tyson smashed up Douglas. Douglas went down. And everyone thought the fight was over. But Douglas got up. *ding ding* Round 2. Douglas is knocked down again. But he gets up again. *ding ding* Round 3. The same thing happens. Again. And again. Tyson keeps knocking down Douglas but Douglas keeps getting up! Now it’s Round 5. Nobody has taken Tyson beyond round 5 before. The crowd started rooting for Douglas. He’s still getting knocked down, round after round… But he keeps getting up. By this time… Tyson is getting tired. He wasn’t used to such a long, gruelling fight. *Ding Ding* Now it's Round 10. And the unbelievable happens. Douglas catches Tyson with an uppercut… He follows up with a flurry of punches… And knocks Tyson out. It’s still one of the biggest sporting upsets in history. Now… Here’s the crazy part: 23 days before the fight Buster’s mum died of cancer. He was distraught. Combined with the fact he was at the end of his career… And he realised he had… Nothing Left To Lose. So he kept getting up. Again and again. With me? Because the point I’m trying to make is: The most dangerous person in any game is the person who plays and has nothing to lose. And I’m not just talking about sport :-) The things that stop you getting the coaching clients and the lifestyle you really want… Like procrastination. Self doubt. Overwhelm? Forget all that. And realise this: What have you got to lose? Really? And what would happen if you started to play the game like the person who has got nothing to lose… and could only gain?

Also, knowing what you actually want, vs what you've inherited from others, is pretty fundamental. You can't achieve a target if you've not defined it well first.
Coaching Versus Selling
I’ve been listening to a lot of sales calls from the coaches in Clients On Automation recently… …and the common theme is that most coaches fail to make sales easily because they over coach. The old ways of thinking that giving VALUE and COACHING means the client will buy from you does not work! Most coaches don't know how to give great value AND have their clients buy consistently. Most coaches give great value BUT the client does not buy. Sound familiar? I know some don’t like the word “sales” – I get it! But the truth is, as a coach, selling your coaching is the best thing you can do for a client. Always remember… …in “sales” your intention should always be to help your client. That’s it! So sales is coaching. Your clients’ current way of thinking has put them in the current position they are in. So when you’re on a sales call, what you need to do is to help your client shift their thinking. If your client already knew what to do and how to do it, then they would already have the result. But, as a coach, you must understand the psychology of selling as a coach specifically… …or else you’ll go too deep into coaching and the client will not buy. Worse than that though… …the client will still have their problem! You will not be able to fix your client’s problem completely in a 60-minute session. If your client is going to fix their problem, they will need to buy your service. Transformation takes time and effort. They need your support to fix their problem. The worst thing you can do for a client in your sales call is to have them think that what you have discussed is enough for them to solve their problem. They will only go away and the problem will get worse. Therefore, YOU MUST NOT COACH ON THESE SESSIONS! You will still give high value in your sales call. Because of your sales call, the client will be able to understand their problem on a deeper level. They will be clear on the method they can take to get rid of their problem. They will know the path to take that will eradicate the problem.

Sales Call
Fee Setting
This topic has been covered here before, but it’s one that can’t be talked about too much. Most coaches and aspiring coaches on this platform focus on what they can deliver to/ for the client…few talk about remuneration for services rendered. Whether you’re coaching 1:1 or 1: many, how do you set your fees? Value or Worth of the services you provide? Ability of “Target” group to pay? Based on the hours and effort and money you have expended to reach your current level? Or is it something else???

@Tola Ayeni I would disagree with the price yourself below what others are charging idea. You're instantly telegraphing a lack of self-belief in the service, or that you're the cheaper option for some other reason. The vast majority of people will initially make a judgement of something's worth by the price attached to it. And some people will always shop for the cheapest, others may make the decision that they've tried cheap before (it rarely works) so they now never go with the cheapest. Understanding buyer psychology is a key skill when pricing anything - especially something as intangible as coaching.

@Tola Ayeni perhaps there's another way to look at this, especially if someone is lacking confidence. Getting comfortable with charging a higher price is an internal reframe or mindset tweak for the coach. Confidence, just like lack of confidence, is just a thought. It's a mental construct -- would you agree with that? It's not a real thing we can put in a bucket or tea cup. So why would you restrict pricing based on something the mind has made up? To be clear, I am not trolling here. I am genuinely curious. I see price resistance, or putting it another way lots of funky thinking about pricing and charging, in so many coaching forum conversations. Resistance to charging enough, to actually build a sustainable coaching business, is one of the biggest reasons so many leave this profession; they literally can't afford to keep going because they don't make enough to live on.
[FREE CASE STUDY] How Meryem made $184k in 6 months
Six months before joining COA, Meryem had no coaching business. No clients… No programs… No social media… NOTHING. But after getting access to the COA System… She dropped everything else (including two other mentors lol)... And implemented everything we showed her. In fact… She copied my entire business model from top to bottom. And as a result… She made $184k in less than 6 months! “I now have the time and money to look after my parents and take them on vacation…” Meryem told me. Amazing. If you’d like to hear exactly what Meryem did to pocket $184k in 6 months… Even though she was starting from scratch… ===> Comment the letter “M” below And we will send you my Case Study interview with her… So you can copy what Meryem did… And get high paying quality clients consistently. Let’s goooooo!
