Weekly Topic: Food & Favorite Meals
We’ll have our live Spanish class on Saturday March14th 🎉 🕛 09:00 AM (EST) Topic: Food & Favorite Meals 🗣️ How the class will work: Starting this week, we will begin each class by listening to the song of the week. Music is a great way to learn new vocabulary. After listening to the song, we will talk about it together in class. You can be ready to comment on things like: • ¿Te gustó la canción o el artista? (Did you like the song or the artist?) • ¿De qué se trata la canción? (What is the song about?) • ¿Qué palabras nuevas aprendiste? (What new words did you learn?) Song of the week: Julieta Venegas - Eres Para Mí https://youtu.be/4lKpmv2rxUc Please listen to the song before class so we can discuss it together. Be ready to talk about your week: • ¿Qué hiciste la semana pasada? - What did you do last week? (To practice the past tense) • ¿Qué vas a hacer la próxima semana? - What are you going to do next week?(To practice the future ) You can also prepare one question for the group, or simply follow the conversation and ask questions naturally during class. 🗣 Weekly Topic: Food & Favorite Meals I’ll start with a short explanation and model conversations. Then you’ll practice with each other. • Habla de una comida que te gusta mucho. ¿Cuándo la comes? ¿Quién la prepara? ¿Por qué te gusta?(Talk about a meal you really like. When do you eat it? Who prepares it? Why do you like it?) • Describe un restaurante que te gusta mucho. ¿Qué comida sirven? ¿Con quién vas normalmente? ¿Qué pides allí? (Describe a restaurant you really like. What food do they serve? Who do you usually go with? What do you order there?) • Habla de una comida especial en tu familia. ¿Quién la prepara? ¿Cuándo la comen? ¿Por qué es especial? (Talk about a special meal in your family. Who prepares it? When do you eat it? Why is it special?) • Describe una comida típica de tu país o cultura. ¿Qué ingredientes tiene? ¿Cuándo se come normalmente?

🌍 Quick Poll – Saturday Class Time
Holaaa ! 💛 Our community is growing across different parts of the U.S., Europe, the Philippines, and more (which I absolutely love!). Several members from other countries have reached out asking about an earlier Saturday time, so before making any changes, I’d love your opinion. Starting in the coming weeks, would you prefer: 🔹 9:00 AM (EST) 🔹 Keep it at 12:00 PM (EST) I’ll review the responses and confirm the updated time tomorrow so everyone can plan ahead 🙌 Also — if Saturdays don’t work for you at all and you’d prefer a different day, feel free to drop it in the comments. I’m also considering adding a second live class each week in the future as the group continues growing, but for now I want to make sure we build a strong and consistent schedule first ✨ Thank you for helping shape this community with me 💬

“Hi everyone! 👋 I’m thinking about creating a Spanish course right here in our group, but I want to do it with your input! I’d love to know: - What topics would you like to learn in Spanish? - Would you be interested in a weekly live meeting where we practice together and everyone can share what they want to learn? Your feedback will help me make this group more fun and useful for all of us! 💬✨ Please vote in the poll below or leave your ideas in the comments.

Some time spent on situational conversation would great. As well as learning what native speakers say versus “book phrases” (of course local slang is a factor). But never have I ever been told that it's very common for someone taking your order to just say “dime”. But i hear that all the time in El Paso. Most of my practice with native speakers is ordering food, and theres a good amount i still have a hard time understanding just since the way they say things isnt “by the book”. Maybe in some meetings doing restaurant, grocery store checkout, clothing store, market etc speaking situations to help with those real world situations??
