@Chris Legaspi Today I’m at the DIA doing a life study from the ā€œDancing with Floraā€ sculpture. I’m focusing on capturing the gesture, weight, and overall movement before committing to any details. Working from sculpture every day has been a game changer—it forces me to think in real 3D, observe form honestly, and simplify complex poses into clear structure. Still rough, but I’m trying to build stronger accuracy and rhythm with each session.

Understood I may be late However here is some warmup I did as I believe in of the warmups are executed correctly it will follow into the rest of the regimen. Think about this philosophy like your Kobe Bryant’s, Tom Brady etc. I did combination of what @Chris Legaspi and Ron do as they both mentioned in their books before I am now starting practice values because I need to With Chris book he talks about these Dexterity exercises as shading a certain direction in boxes These purposes are for when rendering a shape or form following its direction to make it work These are thing I starting to realize Also with automatic drawing with a sumi brush is used to apply these principles while working hand dexterity

@Darin Huddy not just comics all of it I am not just trying to comics, I am also trying to do realism like Chris. Where I can jump between both worlds.
Perspective Practice
I’ve been realizing that figure drawing becomes much stronger when it’s studied side-by-side with perspective. When you train both at the same time, you stop treating the figure like a flat shape on paper, and you start seeing it as an actual form moving through space. Perspective forces you to think about: - where the figure stands - how their weight sits on the ground plane - how limbs move toward or away from the viewer - how volumes wrap around the body And when you combine that with figure drawing, everything feels more solid, believable, and grounded. You’re not just copying anatomy—you’re placing a person inside a real environment. That’s why I practice both simultaneously: it gives me a stronger sense of space, form, and depth every time I draw the figure.
