Quelling concerns about RP in fall
I spoke to Joey at Westinghouse today about doing the week of testing and he said that they may end up starting early in June because they have a lot of people in the queue this year. So they’re potentially doing June, July, and August. I asked him if it was going to be hard to place that many people in the fall if they all passed and were jr RP at the same time and he said that they usually have a 50-75 person attrition rate due to the RPs taking permanent positions either with the plants they’re working at or with the Department of Energy, so he wasn’t worried at all. This was something that I’ve been worried about so just thought I’d share in case anyone else was feeling the same as me.

@Quincy Fowler the Fun1 you can get proctored somewhere near where you live, the NIST training is a week long in Chattanooga

@Lyndsey Kratzner How many outages do you have scheduled for the year? Can you commit to them in advance or how does that work?

What’s the difference between regular and premium?
Got the offer letter for Jr. Decon
While Joey was the first recruiter I spoke with, I haven't been able to reach him again. I was able to speak with Tricia on her direct line multiple times in the past few weeks and received the offer letter today. Thanks to her I will be working Brunswick and McGuire back to back around the start of Feb as decon, hopefully working my way towards Jr. RP Tech. Yes, keep calling the recruiters, they're crazy busy and it can take a large amount of calls (I called multiple times a day) but thank them for taking your call when they get a chance to do so. @Michael Williams thanks for getting me started on this new chapter in my life, this all started when I read your reddit post a while ago.

Huh, she told me McGuire was full and since working 2 outages instead of 3 wasn’t going to make me enough to carry me into the fall I had to pull out of my offer in Brunswick. I guess something opened up?

First day back at Turkey Point in Florida
It’s nice to get out of Minnesota during this time.

How are they looking on Jr Rp techs?
Per diem question
Anyone know the per diem rate for decon and/or Jr RP for WH? Is it the same regardless where you travel or does it change based on site/state/city? Just trying to get an idea of what to expect as I try to get assigned to outages.

@Michael Williams true. It is useful as a baseline though. Now I know that even at the lowest paying position at the lowest paying plant I’ll earn around 10-12k per outage. That’s good info.

@Michael Williams I talked to Trisha Friday and she told me that it was every day. Maybe they changed it to a lower rate but every day?
