SKOOL DOG AWARDS 🎉 gorgeously groomed 🪮level 1🏆
By now you may have read the post explaining the rules, rules is such a binding word but we do need something in place to keep things fair. Does your dog love to be groomed? Are they laid perfectly on a grooming table or mat, lifting their paws 🐾 to the sky whilst you loving comb the their silky fringes, Or🫣 Are they rolling around like the proverbial 🐷in 💩, loving the thrill of the chase 🏃‍♀️because they won’t stay still long enough to for you pick up the brush😂 Personally, we have the very dramatic downward dog pose 🧘‍♂️ which isnt as Zen as it sounds or the nibbles to any part of me he can get to! I would like you to post as many different photos or videos of your grooming sessions please. I will make the points easy; 1 point per photo, 2 points per video. Make as many posts as possible to gain points. Next Sunday evening I will reveal the scores. 🥇🥈🥉remember this is an on-going process, anybody can win at each given quarter (season 🍂🍁it being Autumn currently here in the Uk) So get those brushes at the ready and let’s see those beautifully groomed

@Jackie Wylde Phoenix loved it. Unfortunately the trainer I learnt with has stopped doing it. So we haven't done it for a while. The only downside is the dogs spend a lot of time in the vehicle while others are having their turn, and Phoenix gets too stiff now if he's in the van crate for too long. We have to make do with sniffaris and lots of snuffle toys nowadays.

Phoenix is the only dog I've had that joins me in the loo. If I need a "wild" wee (perimenopausal bladder!) when we're out I have to tell him to wait - he likes to mark over it 😂 😂
Silence, is it golden?
I’ve just seen a dog trainer on social media who says do not say anything whilst walking your dog. Pick up the lead, put it on, leave the house all whilst your dog is calm. If they aren’t don’t move forward such as leaving. Then whilst in the walk do not speak and it will make the dog pay more attention to you. So this is my experiment tomorrow. What are your thoughts please?

Definitely only do things when the dog is calm. But dogs, just like people, thrive when communication flows both ways. If you are silent on a walk you might as well just be a dead weight that the dog drags around. Make your communication meaningful, give positive feedback (treats, praise or engaging body language). Take an interest in what interests them so you become part of the walk. Dogs communicate with each other all the time with their body language. And they try to communicate with us all the time - lots of people just don't take any notice though.
