NCAA Transfer Portal News
Trying to keep you up-to-date... this just in from Rick Allen: NCAA Division I Transfer Rule: SIGNIFICANT PENALTIES APPROVED The NCAA Division I Cabinet has approved a new rule across all sports that imposes penalties on programs that allow a student-athlete to transfer in from another NCAA institution without properly entering the Transfer Portal. Under this rule: - The head coach will be suspended from coaching duties for 50% of the season, andΒ  - The institution will face a financial penalty equal to 20% of that sport’s budget.Β  This rule is effective immediately and will be applied retroactively to this type of transfer occurring on or after February 25, 2026. NCAAΒ Division II CONSIDERING TRANSFER PORTAL WINDOWS At its March meeting, the NCAA Division II Legislation Committee discussed the possibility of implementing sport-specific Transfer Portal windows for Division II student-athletesβ€”similar to the limited windows currently used in Division I. To support this discussion, NCAA staff will compile sport-by-sport data showing when Division II athletes have been entering the Transfer Portal. This information will help guide ongoing conversations and potential rule changes in the coming months. For Division II Football, the Committee also reviewed a request from coaches to establish a transfer window that would align with Division I’s January window.

Stick With It!
For you youngsters, even if you are not on a team, but want to kick or punt in Middle School or High School, "Stick With It!" Here is how I started kicking a football in 1973. FORD used to sponsor "Punt, Pass & Kick" competitions around the country. My local one in Milwaukee was my first kicking competition. It stated with a little PP&K pamphlet, featuring the then Baltimore Colts kicker, Tony Linhart. He was an Austian born professional soccer player. I read and studied that little pamphlet and went to the park close to my house that had goal posts. I practiced and practiced by myself, and found out that I had a skill that not everyone had. I stuck with it for years, kicked and punted in high school and college! But in the back of my mind, I can still picture that little pamphlet, featuring the Colts #2, Tony Linhart! - Coach Jim

Stick With It!
Hello
Hello, my name is Noah Sier, I am a foreign exchange student from Australia attending Lomira high school. I am currently a sophomore but I will be playing my junior year of football at Lomira, I am looking to be the punter for the team but I need some help, I can’t quite get the height and distance I’m looking for. So a friend of mine who’s on this app Aiden Stoffel put me on this app and told me I could get some help with it. I will later make a post with some videos of me punting. I’m really hoping to make a great impact for the football team for the time I am here!

Mike - These pictures bring back a flood of memories! These are from The Mike Farley's kicking Camp at UW River Falls, summer of 1981. I am not sure when, but I switched to an underhand drop on punts. Used that in high school, college, men's rec league...
First 4-point field goal
A new UFL rule awards 4 points for a 60+ yard field goal. Here is the first one. Do you like this rule and should it be adapted anywhere else?https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWb2TP_kv5m/?igsh=MXYxdjB2cjRqbnplMw==

I think the rule is great...adds one more thing to a coach's decision during a game. I think in the 1890's, a field goal was worth 5 points. May have been a "drop kick" style of kick. Our resident Historian, Mike Farley, may need to verify that one. :) JG
Hello
Hello, my name is Nash Rogness. I am in sixth grade and love to kick field goals. I am not currently on a football team, as I am small so my parents took me out of it. I have been practicing my kicks and am planning to go back to football this fall to become and to play only the kicker position. I am probably one of the youngest kickers here at K- Skool, so if any of the more experienced kickers and coaches want to help me improve, I am happy to hear what you have to say about my form and strength. I will post a couple of videos of me kicking field goals from between 28 and 31 yards out. My farthest field goal I could currently kick is about a 32-35 yarder. I have been playing soccer my whole life so it might give me an advantage against other 6th graders who are bigger and stronger than me. I would love it if coaches and players will help me become more consistent by giving me good advice. Thank you for helping me become a better kicker, both coaches and players who have posted videos of themselves. 2 of my four videos I missed pretty badly, so any advice will help me get better at staying consistent.

Nash! Welcome to the K-Skool! Watched your videos, and you do pretty well with your kicks! Stick with it. Just to share a personal note, I started kicking in 3rd grade. Practiced a lot. Finally did my first kick-off and extra point in 9th grade. Stuck with it, and eventually was a college kicker and punter. It is a skill that not everyone has, so if you have goals to kick in high school and beyond, just stick with it! Happy you are in the group! Coach Jim
