Day 1
I don't know what to say. I am learning, quite well I must say, to not put pressure on myself. Even a small win is a win. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. I don't look at the whole picture when I get started on something. I just look at one task at a time. Even if I start it and don't finish on the moment, at least I started it. But usually, once I start one task, I usually finish. If I don't, no big deal. No pressure. I give myself grace.
How to Turn Your Self-Scrutiny to Self-Attunement
If you're anything like me, when you walk into a room full of people you don't know, you have a tendency to overanalyze your words, tone & body language before you even allow yourself to speak. I would often freeze & be unable to say anything unless explicitly asked. I would fumble over my words, and I'd kick myself when I did finally speak and it came out wrong. In part, this has been a form of rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD). In my experience, my RSD has come from my own head. I would literally reject myself before anyone else ever had a chance to. Sure, I can attribute this to many moments across my childhood and teenage life where speaking up DID get my rejected. But nowadays, it's actually quite rare that someone else explicitly rejects me. It's almost always ME rejecting me. But recently, I learned that I don't have to do that. (I know, DUH! 🤦‍♂️😂) Seriously, though. Self-rejection is a choice. And it's one I had full control over—𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵. Self-awareness is the key here. Now, it's my job to notice the body signs when I start to freeze up. My throat constricts, my shoulders round forward, and my body shrinks a bit. When that happens, it is a sign telling myself: "This is a chance to choose courage." Rather than scrutinizing every word; rather that scrutinizing over other people's body language and their reactions to me; I put that focus and attention on the signs my body is showing me. When I notice the shrinking, I actively choose to open my shoulders and sit up taller. Repeated over time, this tells my nervous system that it's OK to take up space. It's OK to shine. Other people's reactions don't need to mean something about me. I don't need to abandon myself just because someone else doesn't like something I did or said. (Most of the time, I don't actually even KNOW if they didn't like it; my inner-critic makes assumptions based on their reaction and body language and I scrutinize myself based on a made up story I have about their reaction. lol!)

I am so glad I don't have that problem. I read the room instantly because I'm an empath, but I also have CPTST and anxiety, which lends to reading a room well. I can talk to anyone. If I have to teach or do a video, I have to wing it. If I try to follow a script, I get real flabbergasted. I have to be me 100%, too be able to speak in a group.

PITCH HERE! "If I were you, I'd grow your business by doing THIS"
Happy Monday founders - now let's help each other grow! There are so many brilliant minds in this community, and I bet we can help each other massively with a tiny amount of effort. Inspired by @Matthew Burns, I made this post! As entrepreneurs, we juggle a LOT of hats. That means we often have a massive to-do list and are constantly "doing" things - but it's not necessarily the most effective things. So here's the game: 1. Write a one to two sentence description of your business. Who do you serve, and what do you help them do? 2. Share one spot where you're stuck OR where you're not sure what the most important task is in your business. 3. Comment on at least two other people's posts with one TACTICAL thing they can do to get past their bottleneck or prioritize their task list. Example in the comments. Let's all help each other grow!

@Bill Widmer yes I do have a master file of all my clients. I now have a master file for my forms, too.

@Bill Widmer actually it's my neurodivergent brain gets in my way. I'm learning to not make myself feel bad about it. If I have negative thoughts, it causes stress. Stress screws everything up. I allow myself to function in a way that works for me.

I am amazed that this group exists, and very happy to have found it. I am neurodivergent (sp) and sometimes struggle to focus. Ok. More than sometimes, but whose judging? I think I'm gonna like it here.

How to Avoid ADHD Burnout & Procrastination
A new member, @Ced Digital, just made a very heart-felt request for help around ADHD burnout and procrastination. Seeing as this is something that many of us struggle with, I went into great detail around burnout, procrastination, and the two key motivators for getting yourself to do something if you have ADHD. You can check out the video below, where I discuss: 1. The two major ways ADHD brains find motivation for tackling tasks 2. How shame leads to burnout (and how to avoid it) 3. Why your business might feel like a chore and be difficult to execute on 4. And a bit more - all in 12 minutes! Oh, and just for funsies, I had ChatGPT fact-check me on this video so I wasn't misleading anyone. Here's what it had to say, if you're curious. (TLDR; it is all factually correct, if some bits are a little oversimplified) BTW, these are the kinds of things we help our clients with in the Focus Founders Accelerator. If you are an ADHD entrepreneur who would like help healing your nervous system, building systems that work with your brain, understanding why burnout happens, and how to build a business that aligns with your joys and feels REALLY GOOD to build, then book a call with Rex to discuss joining. You'll get to join many amazing souls like @Amber Kay, @Brian Diep, @Rainbow Bird de Soliris, @G. S., @Ori Apkon, @Mahedi Kaiser, @Sebastian Schroeder, and more! I'd love to hear from you - does this video resonate? Would you like to see more content like this? How do YOU experience and handle burnout/procrastination? Drop dem comments baybeeeeeee

Great video. One of the things I do that helps me, is set alarms for things throughout the day. Not like constant alarms, but when I get hyper focused I don't notice the passage of time. Nor do I realize I need to eat, but my husband takes care of that end. Anyway, I have one alarm to remind me to take my meds. I have 2 to remind me to take the dogs out. My husband takes them the rest of the time. I have alarms for zooms, and more importantly, football games. I stopped beating up on myself for not getting things done. This can be difficult, it's a daily reminder of our issues, it takes time to get more comfortable with it, but the less I beat myself up, the better I perform. I have learned to give myself grace. It helps that I'm older and have lots of life experience, but march on. Give yourself grace, patience, understanding, and self love.

I joined so that I could learn new things about myself through reading posts, watching videos, and connecting with people who understand the struggle. The more I learn about ADHD, the better I function.
