How to make vocabulary stick (Science backed principles)
There was a study done where they took 2 groups of students: Group A, and Group B The goal of the study to see which students would perform better based on their learning strategy Group A read all of the material ONCE then took practice tests Group B read and reread the books, vocab and everything else On EXAM day Group A outperformed Group B by ALOT And that is because they confused similarity with mastery When your learning a new language you don’t want to be like Group B Don’t read and familiarize yourself with material, or just study some textbooks, or study grammar rules NO don’t do that You must actually USE that knowledge so once you have learned something once lets say yesterday we learned I want. I have and I need BOOOM you learned it and then you used it RIGHT AWAY And that is how you should use vocabulary and that is the best way to actually learn it in context Because if you learn vocabulary out of context and just see random letters you will never achieve fluency and mastery over that language In the end, if you want to learn Vocabulary learn it once and use it many times and then it will get stuck in your brain in context Thanks @Emma Fábryová for this post our conversation yesterday sparked this topic PS: The classroom has some good material on this and what words you should remember Sending everyone Love and Peace ❤️🔥✌🏻
