2nd cube
125 amps-struggled on the pedal with heat at the end of runs. 150 hertz 3/32 2% lanthanted tungsten 1/8” 4043 filler rod. #6 cup on 18-19 cfh I did clean up the corners before I gave it to a co worker. I also have a video of all welds. Had to cut out two of them and redo them so they got a little wider and grainy.

If you have any 3/32 filler it may be easier to use!

Welcome!
First time TIG welding(very lose term) lol
No welding background… just watching online videos on TIG. I know enough to know, I don’t know much at all. LOL! I have a lot to learn but that doesn’t discourage me. I’m very excited to get back to it this weekend. First pic is steel coupon and second is stainless coupon. I was trying different amps and pedal control. Also don’t think I sharpened my tungsten correctly either. Any advice is appreciated. @Grant Pratt appreciate your videos, they are great motivation... I always wanted to learn to weld as a hobbyist and I've finally taken the leap.. thx 🙏 Steve

@Stephen Crandall it's not bad for a first weld. You need to prep you metal tho! If my steel is very dirty I would grind it till it's very shiny. Next you should wipe your metal and filler with acetone! For stainless and mild steel your tungsten should be to a needle point! Let me know what metal thickness and settings you used please!
More practice today.
Still can’t wrap my head around tacking. If I tack on the very sides I am fine. But if I tack about a millimeter from the side it just burns through. Settings are 120 amps 120hz 3 seconds post flow. 1/16 blue tungsten 1/8 aluminum. And I realize I went too cold in the second pic
More practice today.
