First off I wanna say I greatly appreciate the feedback from the first post, I applied the necessary changes and overall I feel as if my track is that much closer to being finished. I am new to this style of music and have only been producing it for a few months now. I have experimented with ideas before but I’ve never actually gave it enough effort. Most ideas got abandoned in the wasteland of no return. However I am here to show the new and improved version of my track. I really analyzed the feedback and applied it to the track. I emphasized more energy towards the second half of the track. I decided that the first part of the track is more of the player searching and discovering. It feels pretty open and honestly I couldn’t quite figure out if it was missing something still or just over thinking. I really thought about the direction the track is heading and I opted in for a more action packed second half to signify a tense more dramatic feel almost as if the player has stumbled around the bosses lair. Again class I am here for help and feedback though I feel my track is about 80% complete. Be honest with me and help me elaborate on new ideas to help finish this first segment. I feel like now that the volume is up some elements are more apparent. Where can I go from this? Should I add more melodies to help fill in some space or add more ambiance or texture? How does the mix sound? Does it help convey the theme and story a bit better? Or does it still feel like our hero is lost astray? https://s.disco.ac/azrkuuubfpbx

@Tim Jeffcoat no worries Tim I know everyone has a pretty busy schedule, like I had mentioned to Glenn it’s actually perfect it gives me some time to work on some if my other projects. But I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. I was told you too use east west, we need to have a conversation sometime see if we can’t learn from each other.

@Tim Jeffcoat that’s interesting I just learned how to do that inside fl studio it really helps bring more life to the instruments and creates the illusion of live playing. Definitely was worth the investment in my opinion.
Feedback for a Pop Ballad?
Hey all! Looking for feedback for my first finished track since we've started in the Sync Accelerator! I'm a little nervous sharing for the first time, but I'm ready! This track was heavily inspired by soft pop/piano ballads by Tate McRae, Olivia Rodrigo, and Lewis Capaldi, and. could use your feedback to help me finish it. My To Do List still includes: -Timing Vocal Doubles -Ear Candy/Transitions/Creating small moments that keep the track moving -Mixing! Right now I've got levels roughly where I want them but would like some feedback before I start mixing. Right now, my biggest struggles are with drums and of course vocals. Do the drums feel sort of flat? Are the background vocals distracting? I feel like I'd like to add more layers but don't want to overdo it or take away from the main melody in a ballad like this. Thanks for any feedback ya'll might have! https://s.disco.ac/qlehcesqkkqm

Dude this is fire 🔥honestly it’s a great start. You nailed the vibe pop ballad, the switch up was dope I really like it and it caught me off guard. One thing I will say is I definitely agree some of the vocals need a little work.( not the main ones). At times when the harmonies where introduced it was too loud made the mix sound a little muddy. The only other thing I could think of is play around with the piano velocities a bit, it will help bring some more life to it. I think my favorite thing about the whole project was how simple you kept it. Good job Jen 💯 thank you for sharing.

Imagine traveling across an endless sea of golden sand, the wind carries whispers of forgotten kingdoms and ancient ruins. The sun burns high above the horizon as a lone traveler journeys across the vast desert, only guided by distant mountains and fading echoes of lost civilization. Very descriptive I know, it took a lot of convincing to show this to the class. Like many I too fear rejection and sometimes feel like my work isn’t ready to share. But how are we suppose to grow without taking chances and risk. So here is a piece of work I have been in the process of finishing up. It is still in the early stages but it is ready to be shared. Class I ask very kindly of you all please help me with feedback so I can finish this project. I feel like as far as sound design goes I nailed it. But, I would like your honest feedback to help me improve. I definitely feel like the mix could use some work. Some parts seem a little short, some feel a little empty. Don’t be afraid to let me know I promise I can take it. I want to know what are your thoughts on this piece and how I can overall improve it. Do you think the melodies clash, the drums aren’t fitting. Maybe they sound flat, does it change pace a little too fast or too much. Or maybe it could use more atmosphere. My goal was not to over produce this but to simply convey the feeling of traveling through a desert landscape for a video game. Hope you enjoy it. https://s.disco.ac/masdbvjbjrxp

@Dawn Dineen thank you for your feedback I greatly appreciate it. I have been a huge video game fan for years and we rarely take the time to appreciate the music in it. But I can agree the music will make or break the game lol.

@Glenn Macrae that launch pad is nice man. I didn’t know you used ableton. You too have a very simple setup nothing over the top looks very clean and professional.

Dude this is a tough question, I’ve been thinking about what to ask this whole time. I remember at the workshop you went over a lot of the common questions. I guess the on question I have is what’s the most important element when creating your song. Like what would you say is the most important part of your song that really makes or breaks it outside of the mix. Btw love the bevis and butthead gif lol.
