Enlarge Prostate
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), an enlarged prostate—referred to as Jinglong or Longpi—is primarily rooted in Kidney deficiency combined with imbalances in the lower burner.
Primary Root Causes in TCM
TCM views an enlarged prostate (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, or BPH) as a multi-pattern condition rather than a single issue. The fundamental underlying causes include:
  • Kidney Qi or Yang Deficiency: As men age, the foundational Kidney essence and Qi naturally decline. This weakens bladder control, reduces the force of urination, and impairs fluid transformation.
  • Damp-Heat Accumulation: Pathogenic dampness and heat can pour downward into the lower burner, causing swelling, inflammation, and obstructed urination.
  • Blood Stasis and Qi Stagnation: Long-term stagnation in the lower abdomen blocks the smooth flow of Qi and Blood, leading to tissue enlargement and persistent urinary difficulties.
  • Spleen Qi Deficiency: A weak Spleen fails to properly manage fluids, causing turbid dampness to collapse downward into the lower body.
  • Cold-Dampness and Phlegm Obstruction: Condensed fluids and cold pathogens block the normal passage of water and channel pathways.
