A new stash-busting sweater for your leftovers and single skeins
While we are all busy stash busting the Rujuu Sweater together in our MYAL, I wanted to share a new pattern that was born from the same mission: using up leftovers and single skeins on purpose. 🙂 The Emel Sweater is a colourwork pullover worked at worsted gauge, which means you can mix yarn weights to hit gauge, just like you have been doing with Rujuu. The colours are organised into five tonal categories that progress from light to dark, so the result looks considered rather than random. It uses a seamless top-down construction with a European shoulder, and the longer floats are managed with Ladderback Jacquard, including a three colour version I cover in a dedicated tutorial on YouTube. There is also a full construction deep-dive video if you want to understand the build before you cast on. 🤓 The Rujuu and Emel sweaters share the same gauge and a similar approach to colour, so if you have leftovers from the MYAL or you’re inspired by the gorgeous combinations shared on here, this is another project to put them to use.🤩 Use code EMEL20 at checkout on Ravelry or Etsy for an intro discount, valid until 1st March, midnight UK time. The moment when the 5th Clue gets out...
You’ve probably guessed what this clue is about since there isn’t much left to do. 🫣 It might not feel as exciting as the earlier clues, and for some of you, it might even mean there’s not much to work on—especially if your row gauge was on the longer side. If that’s the case, think of this as a little breather before the big finale. 🙂 But if you’re doing the longer version (like I did!) or your row gauge is tighter, you’ll have plenty of knitting to keep you busy until the next clue comes out. 🧶 Right now, over 420 projects have made it past Clue 1 on Skool, with new people still joining in! Plus, 175 have already finished Clue 4, and lots of you sharing your progress with big smiles, and honestly, nothing makes me happier! If you’ve already got the pattern, check your inbox or refresh your Ravelry library to grab the Clue 5 file. If you haven’t joined yet, you can get the pattern here. No new tutorials this time! For those who had issues with playing the videos recently, I hope that’s sorted now. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get much help from Loom support, but if you’re still having trouble, shoot me a DM with your device, OS version, browser (and version), and your general location (just the town is fine). 🙏 Alright, let’s get knitting! 💪

Yarn jeopardy awaiting sleeve instructions
I have taken clue 5 as far as I can, with a full repeat of chart 4 with a third mosaic texture strip. I want to finish off with some of chart 1circles and squares, but don't know if I've got enough yarns; so it seems a good place to stop until the arms are done. (Photo taken before last mosaic band was worked.) I'm not sure that I like the textured bands enough to repeat them on the sleeves; I may try some vertical colourwork panels instead. Or maybe @Zanete Hussain has a surprise up her sleeve for us?

So many beautiful knits! Way to go. You all are my heroes.
I have had less time than originally expected to concentrate on the KAL. I haven'teven gotten past clue 1. Although I felt like my color choices were good...seeing many of the wips has caused me to re-think it and I will be changing it. Another reason for the yarn switch...One of the yarns I am using is also thrifted and came caked. Knitting with it, I suspect it is handspun. That is causing guage issues. Frogging and feeling discouraged.😪 I will cast it back on because I love the finished item. Originally I was making the cardigan. When I cast this back on it will be the sweater. I really love it. I'll be watching the steeking for a future project.
So many beautiful knits! Way to go. You all are my heroes.
