Niche vs. Broad Videos: Why Most Businesses Get This Wrong
When most entrepreneurs start YouTube, they think:
“I need to go as broad as possible to reach the most people.”
Big mistake.
Because here’s what happens:
You make videos like “5 Best Side Hustles in 2024” or “Top 3 Ways to Make Money Online.”
They get some views, sure.
But do they bring in the right audience?
Nope.
Broad videos attract people who are just browsing—not people ready to buy.
The solution? Go niche.
Here’s why:
When you create niche videos, you’re not competing with every other creator on YouTube.
Instead, you’re speaking directly to your dream clients—the ones willing to pay you high-ticket prices.
For example, if you’re a business coach targeting agency owners at $5k/month who want to scale…
Instead of making a broad video like “How to Scale Your Business,”
you make a niche video like “How I Helped 5 Agencies Go from $5k to $20k/Month in 90 Days.”
See the difference?
One gets views.
The other gets clients.
But there’s one exception:
If your offer is for beginners (say, a DIY course), you CAN make broad videos.
Here’s the rule of thumb:
The more advanced your audience, the more niche your videos need to be.
Because broad videos bring views.
Niche videos bring buyers.
And unless you’re just chasing ad revenue… buyers are the only thing that matters.
