Our very own Des Dreckett Is known around the Skool Platform as THE YouTube Guy. And to add another feather to his hat he has just started a new community aptly named YouTube for Skool. He started it less than a week ago. It's a paid community and the charges are ridiculous if you ask me. it's $5 per year. (You read that right) But that is about to change. When he started the community he said he will up the price once he got to 50 members. He is at 66 as of this writing and true to his word he has up the Ante. Starting Monday the price goes up to you $5 per month. If you have a YouTube channel or if you have been thinking about starting one, joining his community is a no-brainer, especially at $5 a year right now. Even if you miss the deadline, it'll still be worth at $5 a month, but why wait?

Nice to be here! Hi, I'm Stefan - I'm currently based close to Nuremberg in Germany, and I have found this community because of serendipity and looking for "weird" spaces on Skool. I have a boring day job and I also run an exciting coaching/consultancy business called Weirdness as a Service, which is a lot of fun. I have asked myself since I was a kid what I wanted to do for a living. Never found my vocation, despite trying a good load of things besides my job in IT, until last Autumn when Weirdness as a Service was born. See, my wonderful brain usually can come up with something that can make any given situation *worse*, and that is not necessarily a marketable skill in our capitalist landscape. But I found a way to put it to good use and help people fortify their ideas by running pre-mortems with them (I'll happily explain those but don't want to turn this intro into a sales pitch). When the web was young and I was mostly communicating on Usenet, I got the nickname "endpoint of the Gauss'ian bell", because statistical averages and "normal" do not seem to work for me very well. Every modern society is becoming digitally competent and practically helpless. Society is building a lifestyle where the digital layer isn’t optional, it’s the operating system of daily life. I wanted to stir up some critical thinking here, see how people feel. Call me a fool. Say what's on your mind. I've worked in technology for 50 years, people think that means I should always jump on the latest and greatest technology. But my profession has taught me not to be on the "bleeding edge." The term "bleeding edge" gained popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s within the technology sector. Unlike "cutting edge," which implies precision and effectiveness, or "leading edge," which emphasizes being ahead of trends, "bleeding edge" carries a sense of risk and experimental status. Engineers and innovators, seeking a term that captured not just advancement but also the risks of untested innovation, began using "bleeding edge" to describe technologies that were so new they could fail or cause problems. Yes, I use AI, I use it quite a bit. But I argue with it. I play one AI model against the other to get AI to argue with itself. But I don't let AI take over my world. AI is a tool. Keep in mind that powerful tools can often create many good things, and powerful tools can be very disruptive and dangerous when used by people with bad intent. With great power comes great responsivity. There are people here that can run a business from a phone but not handle a day without one. We built a society optimized for convenience, not continuity. We built a society where everyday competence is outsourced to devices. Where will you be when the lights go out?
