Writing With Kids

Kids are born storytellers.
Long before they can hold a pencil, they're inventing characters, narrating their day, and asking "what if?" a hundred times before lunch. Somewhere along the way, many kids stop seeing themselves as creative. This community is built on a different idea: that writing doesn't have to start with rules, worksheets, and fear of getting it wrong. It can start with play, curiosity, and permission.
I'm Derek Munson, author of Enemy Pie. For more than two decades, I've visited schools and led writing programs with kids of all ages. What I've learned is simple: when you give kids the right kind of space, they don't need to be taught how to be creative. They already are.
This community is for parents, teachers, and anyone who wants to nurture creativity through storytelling and writing. Our job isn't to teach kids to write. It's to keep them writing.
