What's your favourite piece of written work? I have so many! But my ultimate favourite is the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. She is brilliant as an author.

So, I am somebody who learns a very specific way, and as such I will be teaching how I learn. The first thing we need to establish before actually starting to write a novel, is our reading comprehension and what we take away from pieces of fiction or non-fiction. If we are able to critically analyze a piece of writing, give our views as to why we believe the author chose specific words or themes, even if it's just a gut feeling we have that can't be proven one way or another, we can then understand the basics of how to use language and themes to create a mental image and convey a specific message. Next is spelling and punctuation. And so on! I look forward to this course and I welcome all who join. Let's learn how to write a novel!
