I am often hearing from writers how they set time aside to write and can't find the inspiration. I used to get stuck here all the time. I use Notion to write because it is aesthetically beautiful. I find beauty to inspire me. I can write without beauty, but when I am in a beautiful space, both internally and externally, it reflects in my writing. I listen to gentle, inspiring music. I look at inspiring art. I reflect on great writers. To me writing is more than have an idea. It is channeling inspiration into form, and gifting it to the world. As such I believe we have a responsibility to be conscious of how we bring it to the world. The artist or writer creates for the world they want to live in. I choose beauty.

Something I use to help me get the most out of my writing time is a YouTube channel that features immersive writing session music. You do a 25-minute sprint, non-stop writing, then you take a 5-minute break. I love listening to music and ambient sounds while I write. It's nice that they have it all on their YouTube videos. A bell goes off after 25 minutes, then again after a 5-minute break. I find I can go longer than 25 minutes, but if I don't take those short breaks, my brain fatigues and I can't write for more than an hour before I need to stop entirely.
