🌍 Why Worm Farming Matters Now in Africa
Africa is at a very important moment. We have land, people, and plenty of organic waste—but we also face challenges with food security, soil health, water, waste, and land damaged by mining. This is where worm farming comes in. Through vermiculture and vermicomposting, worms help us turn waste into rich compost, restore soil, save water, and grow healthier crops. Worm-based systems like vermiponics can even be added to irrigation systems to improve plant growth naturally. But here’s the key issue 👉 we don’t have enough worms. All these opportunities only work if we grow more worms. That’s why worm farming must be promoted in our schools, homes, and communities. We need more growers, more wormeries, and more young people involved. Worm farming means cleaner communities, healthier soil, more food, and new income opportunities. The time is now. Let’s grow worms and grow Africa 🌱🪱

Part 1: Farm Visit (Glen Austin)
Hi Colleagues 👋 Today I visited Jamie’s Farm in Glen Austin, Gauteng, and I must say — it’s truly inspiring! 🌱 Jamie started with just a single bucket of worms, and now the farm operates with over 27 Continuous Flow-Through systems! 🪱💪 It’s amazing to see what consistency and passion can do in worm farming. If you’d like me to do more farm visits and share updates or lessons from each visit, please comment below 👇 — your feedback will guide the next stop!

Work hard, play hard they say 😁
One of my friends when I told him I was in South Korea for work (training), he said "remember to have fun" - and I did 🤪. This one video was taken purely for my son, and he loved it ❤️ Hey, also remember to have fun, even as you work and more especially in this platform 🤡

2025 Africa Saemaul Undong Training Program in South Korea 🇰🇷
Hey everyone 🪱🌱 A warm welcome to all the new members joining the Worm Farming Community! I’m thrilled to share that I’m currently in South Korea 🇰🇷, taking part in the 2025 Africa Saemaul Undong Training Program — an incredible initiative bringing together 27 leaders from South Africa, Lesotho, and Mozambique to learn from Korea’s world-renowned rural development model. We arrived on October 26th, and for the next 80 hours, we’re diving deep into the Saemaul Undong (New Village Movement) — exploring how Korea built thriving rural communities through innovation, cooperation, and sustainability. The best part? 😍 This program actually incorporates worm farming! We’ll be visiting a worm farm to see how Korea integrates vermiculture into sustainable agriculture and waste management. I can’t wait to see their systems, setups, and how they’ve scaled production while keeping everything eco-friendly and efficient. Right now, it’s Day 3 in Suwon, and we’re covering topics like: *The Saemaul Undong Model and its cooperative principles *Economic development through rural innovation *And going foward, a workshop on Action Plan Development, where I’ll be working on ideas to integrate worm farming into community development projects back home. My mission from this program: ✅ Develop a customized Saemaul Undong model that includes worm farming as a key driver of rural growth ✅ Create projects that generate youth employment and sustainable income ✅ Deliver actionable plans that communities can implement immediately This experience is a game-changer for our movement. I’ll keep you all updated after the worm farm visit and share practical insights we can apply to strengthen our own projects 🌍💪 #WormFarming #SustainableAgriculture #SaemaulUndong #AfricaKoreaPartnership #RuralDevelopment
