Reading Luke 22:18-20

I never noticed this before but this dinner was taking place BEFORE the crucifixion, yet He says His blood “IS poured out” for you..not "will be poured out"...

This suggests that the sacrifice began even before the table!!

So I did some research :-)

I guess I never realized that the stage had been being set for a while by this time.... remember Jesus had already been denied, challenged and ridiculed. The negotiations of betrayal had already begun, the handing over of jesus was currently in play. The road to the cross was paved and ready...The process of sacrifice had already been started and wasn't going to be stopped.

So the cross was actually the conclusion of His sacrifice !

It is finished!

But it was also a new beginning for us! A new agreement through this pouring out of Himself.

I was also curious about this word "pour"...

The word used in the Greek for "poured out" here is:

ekcheō = to pour out fully, intentionally.

👉 “My life is about to be poured out completely for you.”

👉 “Nothing will be held back.”

👉 “This is the cost of the covenant.”

It amazes me that we're worth this much to God!!

And these are just small parts to a much bigger picture!

There's still all the correlation between this and the blood covenants in Exodus!
