While we didn’t do a ton of coaching, we had some real talk about getting started, building confidence, and finding the best ways to get those hours in to become a skilled equine-assisted coach. One big takeaway? Learning from a great teacher—not just a trainer—can make all the difference. I truly believe it's so important to work with someone who doesn’t just focus on riding, but who takes the time to teach you about horse behavior, herd dynamics, and the way horses think. Too often, traditional barns are all about the sport—get on, ride, compete. But coaching with horses requires something deeper. And honestly? Some of the best teachers I’ve had weren’t even professional trainers. They were people who took the time to listen to horses and help others understand them. But here’s the thing: just because someone communicates well with horses doesn't always mean they’re ready to hold WISE Conversations with clients. In this fast paced world we want everything right now and we want it to be perfect. What we may forget is the journey towards our goals can give us a great sense of accomplishment as long as we trust in the process and have faith that our story will be told in the most perfect version for ourselves. There can be such beauty after a bad storm. Going through a storm can be scary and challenging. We may only see the destruction the storm causes, but what about the beauty that can come afterwards. We all have storms (dark times) we go through. The challenges we face in the current moment can overwhelm us that we miss the good that can come out of it. It may take the support of others to help shift our thought process. Those who support us can help us see the strength we showed through the storm. If we listen to them, and see the good things that came from the challenges we can evolve into an even better version of ourselves.
