🔥 Imagine two software companies meeting for the first time. They want to work together… share information, help each other’s users, or connect their systems. ⚡️

But here’s the thing: they speak different “languages.” One might speak “Instagram,” the other “Spotify,” or “Stripe,” or “The Hive App.” 🐝

So how do they communicate?

💡 They shake hands through an API.

An API (Application Programming Interface) is like a friendly handshake or translator between two systems.

It’s the set of rules and protocols that says -

“Hey, here’s how you can talk to me safely and clearly.”

For example:

When your Hive app connects to Stripe to process payments … that’s an API handshake.
When you log in using your Google account on another website …. that’s another API handshake happening behind the scenes.

The magic of APIs is that they let software collaborate like a team, not competitors.

Instead of building everything from scratch, apps can “borrow” features from others …. securely, quickly, and automatically.

So next time you hear “API,” just picture this:
