There’s a quiet beauty in the spaces between what was and what’s becoming.
Transitions shape every corner of our days—waking, working, resting, and being. They are often the unseen thread that weaves our lives together, marking the shift between what has been and what’s coming next. This Well-Rested Wednesday, let’s explore the power hidden in these spaces “in between,” and discover how honoring transitions can restore both body and spirit.​
In yoga, the moments between poses are just as important as the shapes themselves. These transitions are invitations to move from one experience to another with mindfulness rather than autopilot. Life, too, is a tapestry of transitions—changing seasons, shifting roles, or the subtle move from day to night.​
We often tempted to rush through these spaces, to the next season, the next goal, the next “thing”, eager to arrive at the next destination — but transitions are where the real growth happens. It’s the pause between breaths, the still moment before the next chapter begins, that invites us to soften, listen, and realign. Whether it’s hurrying through daily routines or leaping over change to reach certainty, we may miss the lessons and restfulness that come from pausing in the in-between. Like in yoga, embracing transitions slowly can help us feel anchored, observant, and more present.​
Transitions — whether big or small — are inherently uncomfortable. The old has not fully released, and the new has not fully arrived. We are suspended between identities, routines, relationships, or stages of life. And in that suspension, there’s an invitation: to rest into the unknown.
When we slow down—even for just a moment—we give ourselves permission to notice what’s happening inside. Every time you linger between one breath and the next, or settle into the pause between movement and stillness, you’re building resilience and learning to meet change with grace.​
Let transitions become your teachers. Practice noticing the gap after a deep inhale, the hush just before you greet a loved one, or the gentle shift from work mode into rest. When life feels relentless or you hunger for grounding, the answer often lives here—in the tenderness of the transition.​
In our culture of constant doing, we treat transitions as mere speed bumps. We rush from one project to the next, one phase of life to another, believing momentum equals success. But rest — intentional, grounded rest — is what allows transitions to unfold with grace.

When we choose to rest during transition, we give ourselves permission to not know. We learn to trust that clarity will return when we are ready, not when we force it. We stop performing peace and begin to embody it.

Find a single transition in your daily routine—like the moment after turning off your alarm, arriving home, or finishing a meal. Instead of rushing on, pause for just 1-2 slow breaths. Feel the weight of your body, notice your surroundings, and acknowledge the change underway. Let this tiny window become a resting place, a reset, and a reminder that rest is possible—even between the doing.​
Honor the Pause. Before you move from one task to the next, take 60 seconds to stop. Place a hand over your heart, close your eyes, and take three deep breaths.
Ask yourself:
“What do I need to release before I move forward?”
This simple ritual builds awareness between transitions — helping you move through your day with intention, not exhaustion.
