Sales rules the world and solve its problems…
To sell anything, you need Someone’s Attention and unless you want to be a clown and dance around online or in person, I certainly don’t, I mean it’s not that I take myself too seriously, I love a joke, I’m probably considered a clown by some people but I mean I think there is a time to be serious especially when people are going to make financial decisions, there is a time and a place for everything, a little bit of humour can liven up a situation but people still need to be able to trust you and understand that you take their financial commitments I.e spending money with you on your products or services, seriously. And that you value them as a customer. That being said, the nice guy or girl approach is not going to work in today’s economy and it’s probably going to get even worse. Am I suggesting that you should be rude or dismissive of people? Absolutely not, you should be a nice guy or girl as long as you’re being authentic and not compromising yourself. However today more than ever, when it comes to selling, you need to hit peoples pain points and show them how clear it is that their problem can be solved by your products or services otherwise you are doing them an injustice as they will likely go elsewhere and hopefully they are taken care of by someone else who is ethical but maybe not. Also, your job isn’t to get people to like you, it may be at times but your job primarily is to actually solve a problem in the world. That’s really all a world class sales person is, a problem solver. You need to convey to someone that there is a problem that they have, that needs to be solved otherwise if this is not the case, you should not be talking at all as this would be wasted time that neither of you can ever get back. The chances are, not everyone has the issue that your products or services can solve otherwise you wouldn’t need a salesperson to sell it. It’s the salespersons job to locate people, uncover which people that they speak to in a day, can actually be helped by what they are selling at all by asking quality and qualifying questions.
