You're not being judged. You're being de-risked.
The thing that stings about hiring is that it feels personal. It isn't. And once you see what's actually happening, it gets a lot easier.
When someone reads your profile, they are not asking "is this a good person." They're asking "if I bring this person in and it goes wrong, how bad is it for me." They're de-risking a decision they'll have to defend.
You're not being judged as a human. You're being evaluated as a component they're deciding whether to plug into a system that's currently working.
That reframe changes what you put forward.
Stop trying to be impressive. Impressive raises the stakes of a wrong bet. Start being legible and low-risk. Show them exactly what you'd own, exactly what changed last time you owned it, and exactly why you won't blow up their week.
Clear beats clever. Safe-to-bet-on beats amazing. The job doesn't go to the most talented applicant. It goes to the one the hiring manager can defend at the next meeting.
