Traditions for your home and family
With all of the changes in our culture and society, there is a growing trend among people of all generations to seek out what we sometimes call "old-fashioned" traditions. While all of the modern conveniences that are available to us these days, including rapid communication, fast food, and super simple to use kitchen gadgets, sometimes it feels like life is just rushing by us and we can't keep up. For some of us, of all ages, there is a longing for discovering a slower, gentler way of life. That is what our focus will be here at Vintage Mama's Cottage! You will find traditional, "old-fashioned" home making skills, sewing, quilting, crafting, cooking, gardening, and even some of our friends will share their homesteading expertise with us. My areas of specialty will focus on refashioning and repurposing a variety of items, including clothing, fun jewelry making ideas, altered books, junk journals, and hand stitching projects such as quilting and slow stitching. If you are longing for a more peaceful approach to everyday life, please join me here where we can share our experiences, our successes and perhaps even some of the ways that things didn't go the way we planned . . . where we can learn from one another and encourage us all to discover moments of peaceful, gentle living even in the midst of the swirling of busyness that surrounds us every where we look. I hope you will join me on this journey!

Be Creative Every Day
Finding your way home
Some day we all feel a bit adrift in this modern world. No doubt, other generations have experienced that as well, but the world right now seems to be moving at such a frantic pace, that it seems rather overwhelming trying to keep up. No matter YOUR generation, this sense of being overwhelmed appears to be part of everyday life. Do you ever feel like you just want to go home? I know that "home" is not an especially positive memory for some of us. Even so, it is a common experience of longing to "go home" where one feels safe, seen, loved, and accepted. Perhaps especially for those of us who did not experience this kind of "home" as a child. Yearning for a place that feels like "home" is a universal longing, across all generations and cultures. READ MORE HERE: https://avintagemamascottage.blogspot.com/2026/02/finding-your-way-home.html

Finding your way home
The "Rebel Homemaker"
As the whole world seems to be filled with anxiety, fear, and confusion, it is no wonder we are all searching for a place of peace and tranquility. That place used to be, for many of us, our home and family. These days, however, people find themselves alone in the midst of a chaotic world, questioning if there is a better way of living. Those of us who have experienced the simpler things in life (by choice or necessity) search for ways to return to those days of baking bread, hanging the laundry out to dry on a sunny day, planting a garden, sewing our own clothing and making outfits for our children. It is not easy these days, being a "rebel homemaker"! READ MORE HERE: https://avintagemamascottage.blogspot.com/2024/12/the-rebel-homemaker.html
