Name Change and More to Come 2026!
I’m excited to share that our community has a new name and icon: The Family Care Compass. It became clear that what we do here goes beyond my business name, Vacca Associates. This group exists to help you find direction when caring for aging parents or loved ones whether you are just at the beginning stage of providing care or are more experienced with wisdom to share. The Family Care Compass reflects what this community truly is: - A place to get clear, practical guidance - A place to ask real questions - A place to feel supported as you navigate family care decisions Nothing about the original purpose and heart of this community is changing—just the name that better reflects my desire to reach more families. For the new year, I am building out courses with the Aging Family Caregiving Primer as a basic overview of the beginning steps to family caregiving which will be free to all members. There will be more advanced offerings for those who want to go deeper or receive one-on-one help. One new offering will be "Ask Marsha" weekly live sessions. You will be able to put questions in a community post and I will address those questions in a brief weekly live session together. There is more to come, so thank you for being here as we grow this community and provide support and help that meets the needs of family caregivers.

How to include everyone in the holiday fun
Hi everyone! Well, I have taken some much needed time off but my brain kept spinning on things I wanted to talk to you about and get your insights. Holiday times can be some of the hardest to balance all the events, activities, shopping, baking, visiting friends and loved ones, etc etc. And, it can be particularly hard when you have friends or family members that can't easily join you for a whole lot of reasons (illness, injury, can't drive, lives too far away...) So, how do you include those loved ones who may end up feeling left out of all the fun? Here's a few ideas on how to keep everyone involved but I'm sure you have more you can add. Be sure and vote -- then add your comments on what you've done in your family.

So when will you decide to stop driving?
Sounds like a crazy question, right? There was a recent poll done by a local radio station on what age someone should stop driving. The last results showed that most voted for age 70-84 as the time someone should stop driving. But, the stats show older drivers are safer drivers than younger drivers. So, what do you think is the appropriate age or situation for you to stop driving? Vote and let us know why you voted that way.
