🤣🤦♀️🫶 LESSONS repeat until they are learned!
Hi Tribers! I am sure you have experienced this - whether in school or in life or with a romantic relationship (dating the same person in different body? Sounds familiar?? lol) or playing a musical instrument… Lessons return (or repeat) if we have not learned them the 1st, 2nd or heck even 300th time…
I thought I have learned my lesson of not making assumptions.
And logically my thought process was like - I have worked many years on myself to not judge book by its cover - to not judge others - as when we first meet someone - we don’t know their circumstances, upbringing and internal battles.
So for me - not being judgmental ALSO meant not make any assumptions. Logical… right?
WRONG!!!!
And this morning I learned this.
Hers is what happened.
Our Triber had reached out to me several weeks ago, inviting me to speak in a summit. I thanked her for thinking of me and said yes. The summit is in January so I have left going over any details that are needed for the next couple of days…
I found out today that the speakers’ spots were filled within 3 days (a few weeks ago) and I needed to register myself.
Duh 🙄
Either my blondness or my business didn’t allow me to see it this way. Most likely is a combo of both.
What I know now is:
- I ASSUMED that just because I am integral and do as I say, people automatically know it.
Wrong!!! Lots of people say all kind of stuffs all the time… and don’t follow through
2. I ASSUMED that me saying yes to Dinka it’s a done deal and I am scheduled.
Wrong! Dinka, as she shared w me earlier, would never do such a thing out of respect!!
So you see how this is a lesson that I needed to learn? Don’t assume anything!!
To be honest I was not even aware I was assuming!
I will be more mindful in the future and ask myself often - “am I assuming things here?”
