Test of Faith
I am going to be a living testament to the power and will of the gods. With all I'm facing, this is going to be an extremely difficult test. But I will use this as an opportunity to strengthen my connection to the spirit realm, the ancestors and the gods and goddesses. It will also strengthen my connection to family and friends.
One thing I want to say, is that this is making me acutely aware of how much my mother has been through and still she continues to be a force for good, and is supporting me tremendously! Just 10 years ago she was diagnosed with the same illness. She was completely alone, and also taking care of my grandmother with dementia and lots of other health issues. Now, I have to really acknowledge what she has been like a force of nature in facing. I hope I can one day be that strong.
If anything, all of this is going to inspire me a lot! I have more ideas now than ever. I have more drive than ever. And I am convinced even more that this world's frivolous attitude toward all the harmful crap in our environment and what we eat is majorly responsible for so many health issues. I used to not care. I used to eat like a pig! Pasta was my #1! And in my 30's I discovered it was poisoning me! I had an undetected gluten allergy that has progressed to full blown celiac. Now, I can't touch it! Butter, I was a butterton. Obsessed with buttery yumminess! Now, I have to watch cholesterol and saturated fats!
I have been doing much better with my eating since the gluten problem surfaced. I am much more careful about eating healthy. But that didnt stop me from eating salt like crazy, not realizing how much sodium is in EVERYTHING! No wonder I'm dealing with hypertension. Processed foods high in sodium and chemical preservatives are one of the worst things!
So, I am going to fully be advocating healthy eating, while remembering the cyclical nature of life. Everything we eat was alive and now is dead. It is dead so we can be alive. We consume and assimilate them into us. We are the living testament to their existence. And I want to focus on remembering that! How many cows, chickens, pigs, fish, died so I can be here today? I have no idea, but I thank each and every one of them for their sacrifice and promise not to squander it.
I know how difficult it can be to keep faith when the community is so few and far between. We don't have churches, we don't have government protected assistance through Pagan foundations. As it is we have entities in government that are erasing long fought recognition of Pagan faith in our military and government agencies. This is a separate but related subject I'll be talking about as well!
However, this doesn't mean one should run back to Christianity or other monotheistic supported faiths with larger communities just to feel like we belong somewhere. That is the exact thing the Catholic and other branches of Christian churches and leaders want us to do; give up on our Pagan faith for the superficial ordinance of the elite. And I refuse!
