1 Thessalonians 4:1
1 Thessalonians 4:1
As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. (NIV)
Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more.(NLT)
Paul is telling the believers in Thessalonica:
. You already know how to live in a way that pleases God- because Paul and the other apostles taught them.
. Now he encourages them to keep growing, to continue living for God even more faithfully.
. It's a loving push to keep maturing spiritually, not because they’re failing, but because there is always room to grow in holiness, obedience, and love.
In other words: “you’re already living In a way that honors God. Keep going- and keep growing. Don't stay where you are spiritually; increase in it more and more.
Main points:
. Christian life is a walk, something ongoing.
. Pleasing God is not a one-time act; its a daily lifestyle/
. God wants his children to abound, meaning grow, improve, and flourish.
