One of the biggest mistakes I see new trucking business owners make is booking loads based only on the gross pay.
Revenue looks good on paper — but profit is what keeps your business alive.
When I book loads, I always check these 5 things:
✅ Rate Per Mile
✅ Fuel Cost
✅ Deadhead Miles
✅ Delivery Time
✅ Real Profit (after ALL expenses)
If a load doesn’t hit my profit target after expenses — I don’t take it. Period.
