A short Story
I often write for fun. I don’t usually have an audience, but I do always have a purpose. When I write, I’m really talking to myself—trying to make sense of the noise and turn it into something usable. I’ve lived with ADHD all my life, so simplifying overwhelming tasks isn’t a luxury for me, it’s survival. AI has become a genuine ally in that process; it helps me cut through the clutter and get to the point.
Long before AI, I relied on a PA to keep me focused and on track. My PA, Hannelie—an Afrikaner with a gift for calm efficiency—taught me how to break complicated tasks into their essentials. She showed me how to reduce overwhelm, how to prioritise by ranking tasks from A to F, and how to structure a day so it didn’t run away from me. In the beginning, I was hopeless. But over time, her system became second nature, almost like muscle memory for the mind.
