This is one of the **richest and most deceptive material imbalances in chess**. Unlike Q vs R endings, these positions are **highly dynamic and rarely tablebase-simple**. You are now entering true GM territory. --- # π I. Material Reality β The True Balance ### Typical material comparison | Side A | Side B | | ------------- | -------------------- | | Queen + minor | Rook + minor | | Queen + minor | Rook + two pawns | | Queen + minor | Rook + bishop + pawn | | Queen + minor | Rook + knight + pawn | βοΈ **Rule of thumb (but dangerous):** * Queen β Rook + minor + pawn * Queen + minor β Rook + minor + minor (often unclear) * Initiative and king safety dominate evaluation **GM truth:** π These positions are decided more by **king exposure and coordination** than raw material. --- # π II.
