Truth and Lies
Game #6
Difficulty: ♔ King
Objective: Find the only truth.
There are 10 options. Exactly 1 statement is true.
  1. A legal chess position can contain eight white queens and eight white bishops simultaneously.
  2. An en passant capture can legally remove the only piece shielding both kings from each other.
  3. There exists a legal position in which every white piece attacks at least one black piece.
  4. A pawn may promote to a king if the original king has been checkmated.
  5. In FIDE chess, a move that checkmates the opponent may also be an illegal move.
  6. A player can castle if their king has previously been in check, provided it is no longer in check and has never moved.
  7. A king and two knights versus a lone king is a theoretical forced win.
  8. A legal position can contain three white dark-squared bishops and three white light-squared bishops simultaneously.
  9. If the fifty-move counter reaches exactly 100 half-moves, the game is automatically drawn immediately.
  10. A position can be simultaneously a stalemate and a check.
Find the single truth.
