I am from Myanmar. We burmese people mostly believe in Theravada buddhism. We burmese-buddhist very religious, and we have been like a monk AT LEAST once in our lifetime.
But apart from that, our foods are very different. We prefer ones that are too SWEET, SALTY, and SOUR.
For example, are traditional desserts include coconut milk mainly, which is one of the sweest things you can imagine.
The Most Common Foods that almost everyone in Myanmar likes
  1. Ngapi - Ngapi is a fish paste which is made by drying both small and large seafood with LOTS of salt. We then put them into big pots or jars and soon a liquid is formed above. This liquid is called Fish Sauce, we used it mostly in cooking. If you remove that sauce, a paste below is left. This is called Ngapi.
Ngapi is mostly described to be VERY stinky and gross, and some even says it smells like a dead rat, but we burmese finds it SPECIAL.
2. Durian - Although durian is mostly grown in Malaysia and Thailand, we burmese people also enjoy it. In rural areas, we even plant durian trees in our own garden. (I even have one lol) Although some people from upper region of Myanmar might not like it, we: residents from the lower region of Myanmar, enjoys durians a lot.
To eat durian, we also have it together with MANGOSTEEN because that fruit has a cooling affect, while durian is a heating fruit.
