How to get brilliancies (for 5 year olds)
The easiest way to get brilliants, is to use this stupid (and genius) tactic, deflection.
Basically, you sack a piece or do something to move a piece guarding an important square or another piece.
We have this position (see image 1)
try and find the brilliant.
well if you said Ne5 and know why, congrats. here's a cookie🍪
If they take (which is a blunder),
YOU GET CHECKMATE and win.
if they don't (image 5) and instead plays rook takes your pawn (best), just take their knight.
