Homeschooler's Club - Catapult Engineering Challenge!
Hi Parents, I am so proud of the students' work from last week! LAST WEEK: “Build a City” Students practiced real-world thinking across all subjects: Reading Analyzed characters Practiced sequencing and inferring Used graphic organizers to identify main ideas Writing Created a structured city plan Practiced organizing ideas clearly Focused on complete sentences and descriptive language STEM Designed city layouts Thought through transportation, buildings, and problem-solving systems Applied logic and planning skills Math Used measurement Solved multi-step word problems Practiced multiplication/division concepts Valentine’s Workbook Students completed themed academic pages while practicing grammar, problem-solving, and comprehension. Remember: Students must submit at least ONE assignment per subject (Reading, Writing, Math, STEM). THIS WEEK: CATAPULT ENGINEERING CHALLENGE This week, students will become engineers! They will: Reading Read informational text about force and motion Identify key ideas and vocabulary Writing Write a clear step-by-step engineering plan before building Math Measure launch distance Record trials Analyze data STEM Build a working catapult (instructions are inside the workbook) Test and improve their design We will complete Day 1 activities (from the full curriculum workbook) together in class. Students will then complete the remaining activities independently between sessions. Minimum expectation: 1 Reading 1 Writing 1 Math 1 STEM Of course, they may complete more.
