- お母さん（母）

how to read:おかあさん okaasan（はは）(haha)
🌟Another way to say “mother” is “母”(はは haha). The difference between “okaasan” and “haha” is when you use them.
”okaasan” → You can use it in a causal situation.
(when you talk about your mom or someone’ mother with your friends or family)
”haha” → You can use it when you talk with your boss, strangers etc…
(when you use “okaasan” in these situations, it sounds childish so in a business or not casual situations, we use “haha” most of the time.)
- お父さん（父）
meaning:father
how to read:おとうさん otousan（ちち）chichi
🌟Same as “okaasan”, the word “father” has two ways to say. The situations that you use these two words are the same with “mother”.
”otousan”→when you’re with your friends or someone you are close.
”chichi”→With your boss, strangers..
- お兄ちゃん（兄）
meaning: Big brother/Older brother
how to read:おにいちゃん onii chan（あに）ani
The word ”big brother” also has two ways. The ways that you can use them are exactly same with the last two.
- 弟
meaning: Young brother/Little brother
how to read:おとうと otouto
🌟This word doesn’t have another way to describe it. So even you talk with your boss or strangers, you can use “otouto”
- お姉ちゃん（姉）
meaning:Big sister/Older sister
how to read:おねえちゃん onee chan（あね）ane
🌟“Older sister” is the same as “mother” and “father”. Depending the situations, you need to choose which one you need to use.
- 妹
meaning:Younger sister/Little sister
how to read:いもうと imouto
🌟This one is the same with “young brother”.
- おばあちゃん
meaning:Grandmother

- おじいちゃん
meaning:Grandfather
