Why Nerding for Business Pros?
If you've never tried to find a TTRPG or D&D group, you won't understand the challenge... Yet. I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons for decades. It is, imo, THE greatest form of creative outlet I have ever found. This matters, because, I use D&D to empty my overflowing creativity so I can better focus when I sit down to do my irl work. However, this creative outlet comes with its own unique challenges. 1) It's just tough to find a group. (Not to mention, it took me a long time to embrace my Nerd enough to even ask people if they play) 2) Finding a group that plays consistently? Even tougher. 3) Finding a group that you really vibe with? Nearly Impossible. (Until now...Hopefully?) You see, there are several individual types who enjoy (or would enjoy, if they had the opportunity) playing D&D and other Table Top Role Playing Games (TTRPGs). The minority among these types is the "Business Professional" type. These are people, like me, who very much appreciate the creativity and benefits that playing such games offer. But, we've got high aspirations in the real world. We often see human engagement differently. We recognize that "Nerding" is an activity, not a definition, lifestyle or set of precepts carved into the proverbial stone tablets one must abide by to enjoy such recreation. We are working to build irl empires, irl treasuries, irl communities, and to care for irl families and friends. We understand that life is far more than playing a character in a game. We yearn for the creative outlet, but also for real human engagement with like-minded individuals we could, not only become friends with, but who have the potential for entrepreneurial partnerships, insight and support. It's just a different caliber of individuals that get overlooked and struggle to find a place where they truly fit in. If you know what I'm talking about... Or, if you fit this "type" and want to give TTRPGs/D&D a try, Take the leap. Get in here. There's a seat the conference room with your name on -- conference rooms have great tables for TTRPGs 🤣
