🎨 Tobio’s Monthly Watercolor Prompts: December
One prompt per week to slow down, practice, and paint with joy. 📅 Week 1 – Starry Night Forest or City; Technique Focus: Wet-on-wet, layering, and splattering. Paint a peaceful forest or a city skyline scene under a night sky. Practice fading layers to create depth and use splattering to add stars or snow. 📅 Week 2 – Cozy Cup & Candle Still Life; Technique Focus: Glazing, soft edges, and composition. Set up a simple still life: a warm drink, a candle, maybe a cinnamon stick. Focus on light and shadow, and layering warm tones to create that soft glow. 📅 Week 3 – Holiday Wreath or Garland; Technique Focus: Botanical shapes and brush control. Paint a circle of greenery using curved strokes, playing with tone variation. Add berries or ornaments, and explore color harmony using just a few pigments. 📅 Week 4 – Reflect & Create: Word of the Year; Technique Focus: Lettering, abstract color use, or symbolic journaling. Choose a word or theme for the new year and paint it your way: lettering, expressive background, or visual metaphor. This is your moment to pause and paint from the heart.

Exercises 1-7: Watercolor Practice in Action!
Have you tried any of the 7 creative exercises yet? These aren’t just warmups, they’re some of the most powerful ways to grow your skills and confidence. Whether you’ve: - Practiced brush pressure with flowing lines - Created a color wheel or light value study - Tried layering with glazing or explored light direction - Painted shadows, mood, or even bubbles... We’d LOVE to see what you’ve been working on! 💧 Share your practice sheets or sketchbook pages in the comments. This community is here to learn and grow together, and your work (no matter how small) might be exactly what inspires someone else to keep going. 💛 Let’s celebrate the practice, not just the final painting. — Quill from The Tobio’s Team

🌟 Look at Your Progress!
Let’s take a moment to celebrate how far you’ve come, even if you’re just a few lessons in. ✨ Have you tried the same painting twice? Revisited one of the exercises after learning a new technique? Noticed how your brush control or color mixing has improved? We’d love to see your before & after side by side! 🖼️ Maybe it’s your first and most recent cherry painting, or your first attempt at a sky versus your latest one. Whatever it is, it matters. Use the paperclip icon to share your progress pics in the comments, and feel free to share with the rest of us: - Which lessons or techniques helped you improve - What felt easier the second time around - What you're most proud of in your “after” piece This is your gentle reminder that growth doesn’t happen in one big leap, it happens in every quiet layer and patient brushstroke. 💛 Let’s cheer each other on! — Quill from The Tobio’s Team
