Realism drawing is about making your art look as close to real life as possible. Instead of using symbols or imagination alone, you train your eyes to see things the way they truly are — their shapes, light, shadows, and details — and then put that onto paper

In Renaissance Italy, artists often began their paintings with an under painting — a first layer made in neutral tones (usually browns or grays). This stage allowed them to carefully map out proportions, light, and shadow before adding color. The under painting acts like a blueprint: it gave structure, depth, and balance to the final work. the light and shadows from the under-painting shone through, creating the lifelike realism we still admire in Italian masterpieces today.
