Yes, two things can be true at the same time. Why? Because what’s right for you may not be right for someone else. God’s path for one woman may look completely different from the path He designed for another.
As women, we sometimes struggle to celebrate another woman’s journey when it contradicts our own. But the truth is, her journey isn’t better or worse, it’s simply different. You can celebrate her story without it being a personal indictment of your own.
We must be mindful that our own regrets, insecurities, or silent self condemnation don’t push us into comparing our outcomes with another woman’s. Both of you can succeed. Both of you can win. Your paths don’t have to match for God’s purpose to unfold beautifully in each of your lives.
Watching the Red Balloon Pop show is such an eye opener. One woman’s balloon being popped may actually be God’s protection, even when she can’t see it. And the woman whose balloon wasn’t popped still deserves to be celebrated. Her “yes” doesn’t diminish your “no.”
Just because he wasn’t right for her doesn’t mean he won’t be right for the next woman. And just because she stayed while you left doesn’t mean that your outcomes aren’t equally valid, equally purposeful, and equally successful.
We have to do better as women. We have to celebrate each other’s success without feeling threatened, compared, or condemned because our journeys look different. Her victory doesn’t cancel yours, and your path doesn’t diminish hers.
