Hi, I’m Thomas Wintch — founder of The Icelandic Language Community.
I’m originally from the United States and I learned Icelandic for only 2 months before moving to Iceland for 2 years. Over time, my passion for the Icelandic language has turned into years of study, teaching, and helping others learn Icelandic in a practical and approachable way.
I taught Icelandic at the university level for over 4 years, working with students from complete beginners to more advanced learners. Through that experience, I saw how difficult it can be to find clear, structured resources for learning Icelandic.
This community was created to make Icelandic more accessible through lessons, conversation, pronunciation help, and support from learners and fluent speakers around the world.
