Hi everybody, my name is Skyler and I'm the co-founder of a community called The Free Producer, a place dedicated to reconfiguring the mindset of music producers in a world that requires them to sell themselves like a product or commodity, and grind constantly to project an image that is so curated that it becomes fake. We strive to be as genuine, open, honest and vulnerable as we possibly can be, because we believe music and music-creation are some of the most uniquely human experiences and endeavors in the world, and should be examined and shared in the most open, judgment-free, knowledge-first way we can.
On top of leading ourselves and others away from a "grindset" mentality to a positive and healthy approach to their art, we also have created several tools that help people create their music and visuals that are completely free - the Artifx free plugin database, and the free visualizer with export options called VusicFX.
Each month we highlight free plugins that we encourage our members to use for a 30-60 second track, so that we can all learn something about what tools are out there and how they work. Every week we also offer a free mix and master to members of the community and release deep dive videos on how we've mixed and mastered the songs - we call it Freemix, and it has really taken off as the cornerstone of our group.
Our community is a little different than a lot of others I've seen here (you all have done a great job filling niches), but I believe we've embarked on making something really special for the creatives who've found their way to school.
